Trackday Noise & stuff
Discussion
My T350 has std exhaust, registered 98db consistently at 4,500rpm at 4 separate circuit noise tests this year, so no probs at all. The various sports exhausts seem to be 104db and upwards, my JP Sports exhaust was 105db with same test, which was above permitted levels at some circuits.
You can get some decibel reducers for any exhaust system which fit inside your tail pipes, i have them for mine which was tested at brands at 109 @ 3000rpm. I was told to do something or retire basically. I fitted these small internal caps which consist of 6 discs with 8No 10mm holes around the outside and a 20mm hole in the middle they are all welded to a 19mm Tube that is 70mm long in a way that no outside hole is in line. They reduced the level by 7db. MIne hold in with two No m6 allen key round head sets, it takes 5 mins to fit.
If anybody is interested i will dig up the web site.
Edited to say they make a wierd sound like spitting on idle. I believe they work on the basis of breaking the sound waves and throwing them in all directions.
They were also i think originated in the USA.
Tvr dealers do use them and they are called decibel killers but with the TVR ones you have to buy the whole exhaust system which im not keen on.

Kev, what revs? You need to think quickly when they ask you what the max revs are so that you're then asked to hold it at 4,000 rpm instead of 4,500 rpm (or whatever)
Mine measured 98Db at several tracks. Std exhaust.

Trefor, it was tested 0.5m & 45° from the Exhaust at 4500 RPM. It was a VERY cold day morning session though (when the majority of the noise testing took place) so the Std zorst was sounding very throaty.
