Jolly nice chaps...

Just thought I'd do a postive dealer post.
Dropped my P&J off at Racing Green today for them to sort out my manky wipers. After very little persuading, Martin took it off to have a quick look before sending me on my way - just in case it was a quick fix.
Well, it was a quick fix so I was packed off in my own wheels with a happy grin on my face.
And all this despite them being dead busy.
Oh, and he replaced my melted number plate - which had actually fallen off by then.
Thanks Guys, nice to know you're around.

I'm away for three weeks soon. I think that a few things might drop off before then so that I don't have to worry about parking at Gatwick.....
Yeah, they are top people. Even John...

Great to hear you have had a good experience with them, but personally I don't think good reports of dealers should be allowed on this website.
Why?
Because nobody is allowed to post bad feedback under the rules of this forum, so whilst you or somoene else may have had a great experience with a dealer, there could be 20 other people who had terrible experiences, but 'cos of the forum rules they're not allowed to post, so the forum reader gets blindly led to take their p&j to the apparently recommended dealer, whereas if balanced feedback had been allowed they may have avoided it like the plague!
Just like to point out I have never been to RG, and this is not supposed to be a comment on them in any way, just a general observation about the problem of only alowing positive reviews.
Maybe to avoid the problem of nasty and possibly libellous comments we could have a list of dealers, in which people can simply post a score of 1-10 with no comments allowed, and people can then form their own opinions based on comparitive scores of different dealers?
Any mods listening and care to comment?

Yes - no-one will sue Pistonheads for nice positive comments, but as sure as eggs is eggs defamatory comments will lead to legal action. PH will be the fall guy for some disgruntled punter using access to a public forum to give a possibly one-sided version of events which led to dissatisfaction. It is possible to post "My experience of XYZ dealer wasn't very positive - please e-mail me if you want details".

I fully appreciate that is the fear - as a lawyer, I should appreciate it better than most - but I regularly use several other forums that do allow both sides to comment, rather than just taking the rose tinted view of all dealers, and they haven't been sued. Thankfully we're not in America, and not yet living in that litigation-trigger-happy state of mind.
My concern is that one punter could have a good experience of a dealer which is completely unrepresentative of how that dealer treats 99% of it's customers as they are in fact the worst dealer in the country, so the customer then goes there on the faith of the positive only comment that has been allowed on this website, and has the worst ever service.
Maybe that punter could then sue Pistonheads for mis-representing that dealer due to its one sided posting policy?
yep, you are right Alex, but it is what it is and you have to make an assessment based on comments between good and neutral (or no comment). My view is that dodgy dealers are such most of the time and their rep will get round even with the threat of legal action. So if I get back to RG at the end of my hols (hehehe) and the job they have done is rubbish, I would find a way of saying so to the world!
So I might say that "abc motors had my car and I would like to say they did a good job, but sadly I have to make no comment". That would do it I reckon.
Anyway I still reckon that RG are great peeps (yes even John, ok for a salesman!) and I'm missing my P&J already. Mind you the Caterham's not too bad!
