Anyone fitted a clutch them selves? If so can be that hard for someone with 18 years experience in the field?

Wouldn't attempt it myself, but when it's time for my clutch I'll probably take it to a mate who's been rebuilding Cosworth T5 gearboxes for years. Can't be vastly different, surely...

I think that the trick with these clutches is to have them properly adjusted during fitting to avoid excess slave movement.

A TVR dealer may be more adept at this than someone who has never done it before.

May not be worth taking the chance.

I don't see why a competent mechanic couldn't do this job, so long as they're properly equipped.

Adequate tools, equipment, facilities, knowledge and oppurtunity anything is possible.

I would say having knowledge of those centre slave cylinders would be essential.. but at the end of the day :

It just a clutch.

My friend is a bit reluctant to do this (even with a vast amount of hydraulic cutch experience) just because it’s a TVR. Like everyone says “it’s just a clutch” how hard can it be?

Its not JUST a clutch. Many people with clutch fitting experience have never even seen a twin plate clutch never mind fitting one.

The twin plate clutch itself is no different from all other clutches.

It still uses a diaphram ..

Many other car manufacturers also use the centre slave clutch..

It's only people's ignotance and assumption that TVR must be using something special to justify the high price .. bullshit ..

That keeps this going.

Brake the myth .. take a look yourself.

They are nothing special.

Nothing to consider like correct clearances between the plates?
