When i pulled off the motorway yesterday and the exhaust/road noise deminished a noticed a strange squeeking that had not been there when I set off. It's quite hard to pinpoint where it is comming from but it seems to be over my right shoulder somewhere near the right rear wheel/wheelarch.

I was trying to think how to explain the noise then I realised what it reminds me of. You know when you buy something like a new DVD player and when you unpack it it usually had two pieces of polystyrene like bookends to keep it in place in the box. If you were to rub these together that's EXACTLY what it sounds like - polystyrene rubbing together!

It was the same on my journey back last night but seemed to have gone this morning. I have no idea what it is and if I should have it looked at now or wait until the next service.

If anyone can enlighten me I would appreciate it

Cheers - Rippers

Have a look to see if the bottom of the petrol tank is not rubbing on the rear splitter. ?

That was the culprit of my rear end noise

But before you do that check that the spare tyre isn't clonking (the 2 cans of tyreweld in the little pocket under the carpet, right hand corner of the boot).
