T350 Buzzing Noise from behind Clocks
Discussion
Hi, I have only had my T350 for about two weeks,(think it is brilliant) just bought it second hand. Funny enough l also have a buzzing noise from behind the clocks(the surround of the clocks get very very hot also!). I questioned the owner at the time of purchase about it, he said it had always been like that during his ownership. So l spoke to Silverstone TVR (no longer TVR Dealers)who did service work on my car, they said they had only seen this once before, a good few years ago. He could't remember what the outcome was, but suggested it may be a Wiper motor or a relay that causes the buzzing noise. The only way to find out would be to remove the dash, which sounds like a bit of a mission! My 350 has a Racing Green Exhaust so on the move this drownes out the buzzing. But would be interested also if anybody knows the exact solution.Cheers Paul
Jings crivens - excuse my ignorance but any ideas why there is a fan in the clock unit?
David - can you confirm there is definitely a fan in there?
I'd imagine the only reason there would be a fan would be for cooling of electronic components (e.g like a power hungry processor), and then that makes me wonder what they have in there that needs cooling?
So if that's the case, how do I get in behind there - or is it better to leave to a TVR service engineer?
cheers for the feedback! J

Dear All,
think I managed to get to the bottom of this one.
Took the dash top off (two allen screws) and so could see into back of the PCB 'sandwich'.
It appeared that the small cooling fan had vibrated it's 4 screws/nuts loose, so the fan body was rattling against the pcb as it rotated. (in fact I had found a mystery M2 nut on the floor of car - always wondered where it had come from.)
Tightened up, noise gone (well, more a whine as per normal).
Had been quoted hundreds of quid for repair so pretty happy. Worth a look if you have same issue.
