Dear All,
picked up T350, drove it a hundred miles or so, studied how to check oil level.
Checking the level, topping, warming, checking again revealed that the car had been running at about 60% of it's 6 litre oil capacity.
Oil pressure had been reported fine and no other warnings.

Questions:
1) can you damage the engine running at 60% capacity for 100 miles at standard road behaviour?
2) is there a level warning sensor fitted as well as pressure?

I'm hopeful that the scavengers have been returning enough oil back to the tank for it then to be pumped back around the engine again, but then I don't know a huge amount about dry sump engines. The amount of oil I've had to add constitutes about 2 or 3 inches of height on the oil tank.

Thanks in advance for any feedback. J

Best thing i would do is to get an oil change then you know your starting on the right foot unless your sure the dip stick gave you the right reading ?. Once you know the oil is correct tip another 1/2 ltr in for belt and braces sake.
