Lucky escape tonight. Get a message left on my phone from tracking company regarding my car, next thing the stereo flickers on and off. Get the car home asap, just as i'm parking up she cuts out on me. Had to push her the last few yards. My first thoughts are a dead battery but the lights still work, the radio works again and the fuel pump kicks in too. She just won't turn over. Anyone have any ideas before i call out the rac?

For a car that is suppossed to break down all the time not bad at all for a years driving i think.

Did you check the battery voltage? There should be 12V+ showing with ignition on.

If you're in luck and the battery isn't drained too much it will turn over in the morning - if it doesn't show 13V+ when running it's the alternator fuse or the battery has failed.

Good luck!

Thanks for that. She started fine this morning but voltage was showing 11v before starting and fluctuated between 10.5v and 11.5v once started. Drove into work in the fiesta!! just incase.

Hi there! Sounds like the main fusible link has failed. It is situated in the engine bay just above the starter motor. I would start by replacing this first, we tend to replace them as part of a 12k service these days. If, when replaced, the problem is still there then it is likely that you have an alternator fault. Hope this helps and glad that the car got you home! Best regards, Tony
