T350T cold stalled
Discussion
Test drove a T350T yesterday morning from cold. The sales man drove it down the road for about half a mile then we swapped over. He said that you had to be careful not to stall the car when cold as until it warms up it can be a bit lumpy on tick over. As he stopped he stalled it and could not start it again. He said that this was common and you just needed to leave it for 30 sec to a min and it would be OK again. He was right as within a min it was OK.
Is this normal or is there a problem with the car.

My Tuscan used to be like this. My Sagaris isn’t and usually runs fine from cold. No amount of adjustment on the Tuscan ever cured it. It was a lot worse in Winter. And it also got a lot worse when the valve guides started to wear out, so bear that in mind if the car has done 25K+ miles.
Mine can be a little lumpy at tick over, but only for a minute or so. She isn't easy to stall even then, though I think I have managed it once (spot the dumbass
). I have never had to "leave her for a minute", and only on one occasion have I needed throttle to start her. I realise this doesn't help you diagnose the problem in this case, but what you describe isn't a case of "TADTS".
My T350 will drift out of tune over time making it a little lumpy during cold idle but when it gets bad enough that I think it might stall, I just take it for a tune-up with my friendly dealers (for a small sum of money).
If you stall you do need to wait 30 seconds before restarting. I've only done this a couple of times when I first bought the car and it's quite embarassing if you're in traffic!

Mine needs to have about 1000rpm for 15-20 seconds from cold, after which, it settles to a relatively smooth idle.
I agree with Rebelstar re: stalling, when I collected mine, I stalled it 3 times on the forecourt and then another twice in heavy traffic on a roundabout, not funny or cool! Thankfully, with experience the situation is much better now, can't remember the last time I stalled it!

Thanks all some good advice as usual.
It was a cold morning and after he stalled I think he flouded the engine. He kept turning the key and pressing the throttle. I think he was a bit gutted that he was on a test drive and it happened.
The car has a Red Rose so would this make a difference?

Mine starts without throttle from cold, but will just die in the first few mins if left idling, it needs just a very small touch of throttle then to start after that, but I don't need to wait. I've not tried the 30 seconds of 1500rpm after startup but I will now.

Throttle pots.
There are 6 of the bu@@ers all waiting to cause mischief.
1. Wouldn't buy the car as the salesman is a berk for taking a car with a fault on a test drive.
2. Tell him to get it serviced and stop wasting your time.
Bit cross today

I think there are 2 throttle pots on the Speed Six.
They do have a tendency to stall when cold if you're not used to them. It does sound like this car needs a bit of a tuneup if the saleman stalled it too. It really is not a big deal though.
The ECU runs the engine very rich when cold, if you start the car to move it on your driveway, then turn off and try to restart you may get the same problem. My Audi A6 does this - I have to run the engine at 2,000rpm for a minute to be sure it will start easily the next time.
