Just wondered if anybody out there has had a problem with exhaust mountings breaking on their Tamora? I had a bad metallic rattle from the underside of the car so popped into Racing Green who immediately sorted it; the exhaust mounting about 2/3 of the way towards the back of the car had broken so one new mounting later (and a few washers to drop the plate under the exhaust a few millimeters) all sorted.

Except it's done it again. Horrendous rattling, so popped it up on a lift and the same mounting has broken again.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? And pleeeeaaase don't say swap for a JP exhaust! I annoyed the neighbours quite adequately at 4:30 this morning as it was!

I think I had one go, same exhaust. My dealer just welded something on to get over it (not sure what mind).

I don't think it would help if you did swap to a lighter exhaust as the middle bracket takes the weight if the centre pipes which remain unchanged, the rear box weight is mainly on the rear hangers.
PS I've had same problem with my t350 (I assume its the same under there)and I don't know the answer, perhaps a stregnthened hanger?

the hanger in question are not supposed to hang up side down. To get over the problem of them splitting is to weld a peice of metal around the rubber so as it cant drop. Better still take the box off, you still have your cats and two other small mufflers in front of the dif and have staight through pipes on the rear. That back box weighs a ton.

TVR have revised the rubber hangers on the Tam and T350. The rubber mount now has a stainless steel strap around it to stop it deforming and stretching in use. Speak to your local dealer to get some.

I had the same problem with mine and when i fitted the JP exhaust the larger bore pipes exagerated the problem, they were rubbing on the diffuser.

Thanks Ginner. I'll be popping into Racing Green tomorrow, so will get them to source some.

Hi lads,

I have had 2 new rear box rubbbers fail on me due to centre support bolt failing therefore putting all the work load on rear rubbers. Get a new centre support bolt and 2 new rear rubbers in the metal casing, fit it all and make shure you line it all up and it should be problem solved until the product itself decides to fail again.
