New Sagaris losening nicely up but rev range warning lights feel a bit conservative, particularly in 2nd and 3rd.

Best to leave it as the factory set up or would you suggest changing the settings, if so where would you take it to?

All advice welcome!!

Thanks

I would leave them until youve done 2K miles or so...

Ditto - what you do in the early stages determines the rest of the lifespan. Take it easy, it's worth the wait. 6K good, 12K amazing.

Yep.

I only started to up mine after my first 6k miles. To be honest after 2k miles I was only upping my max revs by 500rpm every 500 miles. Even now I have my max change up light set at 7200 rpm and Im on 16000 miles.

Ewan,
You dont say how many miles you've done. By 2000 miles you should have started to explore 7000 rpm, by the time youve done 3000, you should treat the engine as run-in, but still consider temperature!!

Being over cautious with an engine during the bedding-in period can lead to lower power output and high oil use throughout ownership.

Hope you're enjoying it.

Where do you guys have your tickovers set ? Mine's a little bit low I think, especially on starting. Have to sit with my foot resting on the pedal to stop vibration and stalling. Once it's warm it's fine, although the aircon drags it down to about 650 which generates exhaust vibes.

Due to visit the dealer this weekend to adjust but would welcome advice. Should it be set based on running with aircon on or off ?

Thanks, is that with the aircon running ? seems to pull it down 50-100 when you hit the blue button

Thanks for all your comments, really appreciate it!

Here's another question whilst I'm on. Friend was admiring the car last night and whilst looking into the back noticed the carpet was sodden either side of the hatch containing the 2 air cylinders. The carpet is soaking, water obviously leaking in from somewhere in the wet. Anyone else had this problem?

Damned if I know, I very rarely use the air con and only really used it once I think when idling/stand still when was stuck on the A14 in July this yr and the engine was already warmed up, so idling about normal. Whether that was 100rpm up or down is neither here nor there really. I try and use the air con as little as possible, just enough to keep the system working.

My idle was very low a wee while ago, and the engine would occasionally stall soon after start-up. The dealer raised the idle to about 7k rpm when cold and it's fine now. They also gave the engine a tune-up which seems to make the engine idle better/smoother, so maybe worth asking them to do this too!

From memory the Tamora handbook says that after 500 miles or so "slowly increase the revs until full power is achieved". On the advice of my dealer and the handbook I was adding approx. 500rpm for each additional 100 miles until the first 1,000 mile service. My engine was then trouble free until 30,000 miles when I had it blueprinted. I can't believe the Sagaris would be too different.
The important things are not to over-rev or labour the engine when cold. The handbook also advises to avoid constant speeds for the first 300 miles.
Cheers.... Andrew

Aircon does draw the revs down, better left off when starting from cold if idling is lumpy/irregular.
Following service OK for 3k or so, needs a tweak around then.
