Hi all

Hope you lot dont mind helping me again but i read my handbook as to how much water i put in expansion/coolant bottle. I have a T350c and dont quite understand what the handbook means. Hope im not being stipidly thick, only had the car 3 weeks and learning everyday but loving every minute!!!!! Steve the last owner says 20mm in the bottle only, and to be honest that is what the manual reads, is that true? Thats means its nearly empty!!!!!!

Cheers all

Hi Justyn!
If you have the standard cylindrical water/coolant tank, you'll notice a pipe/hose coming out of the side of it, about half way down. You'll find the water/coolant level will stay about level with this pipe.
The best way to check coolant level is to use an old wooden spoon and dip the handle into the tank, then you'll get a rough idea of the level.
When i first got my car, i was religiously topping it up to the brim with coolant/water every day, not realising that it just spits out what it doesn't want, until it settles at it's own level (if you know what i mean).

Hope this helps!

Chris.

This is scary! The first mention of using the wooden spoon on the forum was back in 30th April 2002!

I can see Jason now at Power with his calibrated wooden spoon. evil

Just make sure the spoon part of it is wider than the neck of the coolant tank though. Don't want to lose your wooden spoon in there!

The water level should be about a 1/4 inch below the top of exit pipe in the expansion coolant header tank.

Better still get one of these

Approx £2-3 at any chemist far better than guessing with pooh sticks
