Sagaris Prices
Discussion
just had a look in the classifieds and was surprised to see a few of the saggys going for around £35-37k, is this due to the factory closure or just normal depreciation?
quite tempted to sell the T350t and move up to a saggybaby at those prices, but then would it be another £15k for a car thats not alot more than what iv got?

If you're talking about finance then IMO it is a mistake. If you're flush then why not
No, I don't think its worth 15k more than your car. However 2005 Sagaris have 18 months warranty left and have probably had the steepest part of their depreciation so if you're planning on keeping for 3-4 years then it may be worth it. If you plan to change in 12 months then why bother? The T350 is a great car.
I recall how, when the Sagaris came out many were spouting about how they'd have better residuals...

Graham,
I havent changed my price since the factory news and not intending to. I think £37k is a reasonable price for an 18month old Sagaris.
Is it worth £15k more than a T350? Well, I think I adressed that question in my autojournals article where I had to ask was it worth £40k more than my Griffith. Objectively, financially and for the most part rationally, was it hell, subjectively and in those little bits of your brain that certain ppl in this country want you to ban from ever using...then God yes, every penny and then more right upto anything this side of £100k. I am of course biased in this assessment, but then Im also biased towards 430 Griffiths and F40's

I assume these were around £50K when new, and the cheapest ones at £35K are around 18 months old, so about 33% depreciation over 18 months - which is not that bad, is it...?
Granted, almost £1K/month is pretty frightening, but again, I think most £50K cars would cost a similar amount.
Re. swapping the T350T - surely it would all seem just a bit too familiar....? Then again, I've not driven a Sag, so perhaps the drive is a lot better.... a test drive should sort that out for you!!
Of course - the T350T is far better looking.... :-) and you can go semi-open-top in the summer!!
Cheers
Jerry

One thing's for sure - they'll be worth alot less in January!
Well mine wont be. Its a nadge under £40k at the moment and Ive no intention of shifting the price. Its a good car, its worth the money and truth be told Im not desperate to sell, but if somebody wants to ante up the price or make me a decent offer then Ill probably sell.
At the end of the day the cars are worth as much as someone is willing to pay. This time of year if you want to sell you need to be competetive....I've been looking for T350T and I've had my Exige for sale at what I would call reasonable price but to sell I would probably need to drop to 'bargain' price. Leave it to the spring and I should have no probablem selling but I would not get any more for it, even though you hear people saying out type of cars value is better in the spring/Summer. Cars loose money most of the time and thats just life.
A Sag at 35k is a lot of car for the money and yes I'm sure they will drop below 30k next year but If your worried about depreciation then this is not the car for you....buy, drive, enjoy...

You're right Jerry, a lot better. Went from a T350c to a Sagaris in Feb. Main difference in the ride is in the superior damping, but the slightly wider track also makes cornering a more confident experience. Power wise I think you'd really have to push things hard to tell the difference at the top end, but the Sagaris is much more useable lower down the rev band. Right from the pull away you don't need the rev's you have to give the 350 and this translates into a much more relaxed driving experience in town particularly.
All to his own, but I'm glad I switched

Don't know why anyone should have said that Targ.
Well known fact that the moment you drive 'any' brand new car off the forecourt you take an immediate slap in the face value wise.
We were well aware of that and the fact that secondhand Sags would be around after 6 months at a far cheaper price....but for us, the joy of driving a brand new model out of the box made it all worthwhile.
We may have lost some money on the car, but it isn't an issue unless we intend to sell and we have experienced 18 months of seriously enjoyable driving.

i picked up a 55 plate saggy in september, from a dealer who was selling it on behalf of the owner.the owner had originally bought it from that dealer from new, at a price of £57,000 due to the extras he had put on.
i picked the car up for £41,000 with just under 6000 on the clock,2 year warranty, and the 6000 service done.
whats spooky is the day i picked it up was the day the factory released the news that production was to go abroad.
who got the better deal?
anyway as far as i was concerened i was getting a great chance to own a fantastic machine so i didnt matter.
i get the feeling that buying now would be a good investment, because when the new ones are being made abroad, they will be more expensive, and also the urge to buy the blackpool made cars will pull the prices up.

Speaking of prices - I notice there's a brand new t350c in the classifieds, from a dealer with a sticker price of £34,995.
That strikes me as a great deal, assuming the 3 year warranty is honored for the whole period.

Sorry to be picky D, but its used, pre-owned - not brand new.
Still a good price for anyone wanting a newish T350.
Residuals are an odd thing. It seems the comparisons used to show a cars deprecaition almost always involve a very heavily speced car being sold quickly.
I paid 50K for my Sagaris brand new in July 05. I supsect in part ex, I'd get close to 80% of that back if I were looking to trade to another TVR. I also suspect I'd get damm close to 75% of it back in a private sale. I've enjoyed it and dont think in new car terms, thats too bad.
I beleive that if you buy wise, stay away from silly clours schemes and expensive options, buying new TVRs has does not always equate to big depreciation.

It might not be brand new but it's only done 100 miles and is approx 8K off list so its cost the previous owner about £80 per mile! almost 20% depreciation in a just a few weeks.

What on earth makes you think a fairly standard T350 with no air con would cost you 43K?.
Its also been sold quickly and would probably have cost the guy the same depreciation wise if he had kept it 6 months and actually used it. Either way, we dont know the cars history, or how old it is in terms of year build etc.
But, like I said, it seems a good price for a fairly new car.

Yes the costs are some speculation but I am guessing how much the previous owner was given for it and I bet the dealer has put a few grand on top.
If you look at the details it does have air con as well.
