Just watched the TG test of the Sagaris with JC praising it as 'the best handling TVR ever' - I'm just wondering how different the whole setup is to the T350? With some tweaking or aftermarket suspension items, can the 350 be made to handle as well as the Sag?

Just curious.... :-)

Cheers

I think the very last T350s had Sagaris-like suspension (but the Sagaris has a wider track and a few other tweaks to make the whole package). If you noticed the Topgear lap time chart, the Tuscan2 was not far behind the Sagaris, shows the Sagaris isn't that much improved over the other recent models (assuming it was the same Stig driving - maybe the Sagaris' Stig was not as quick in this type of car).

IMO you should spend the money on driver training. I'm sure that a good driver in a T350 would be able to lap faster than an average driver in a Sagaris.

On the road the Sagaris seems more planted on really bumpy/cambered B roads. However, at any decent speed the Sagarises I've drvien bottom out all the time at the rear meaning you slow down anyway. My T350 doesn't bottom out on the same roads at faster speeds. So IMO they kind of balance each other out :-)

Always a danger comparing track and road behaviour - very often the stars of the track are poor performers on real-world roads - ground clearance is obviously one factor.

Agree with Targa & Ricardo.

Pretty similar handling anyway, and performance rather closer than you'd think, less ground clearance on Sagaris.

I run Sag-spec springs with Nitron dampers just to give less dive and squat on track, like Sagaris.

Do you know Paul I never thought you used brakes. How do you manage to be so quick and use the middle pedal.

Someone told me once you are so quick you can watch the sun rise in the West

I just point & hang on, then brake after the finish line!!

It has been fun nipping in front of the modified RV8 cars & Sagarii

Kind words Mark. I'm sure you'll agree that the T350 & Sagaris are pretty forgiving at the limit for TVR's, which only spurs us on! evil

No definitely not me then

Was racing, but in my Ginetta in a sprint. There is a 911 driver of same name but rather more ability....

IMHO, not as good when straight out of the Factory. However with a good set of A/M dampers, geometry and corner weighting then better. As everyone on here surely realises its purely subjective as tyres, pressures, geometry, gear ratios, final drive ratios and differential type not forgetting driver ability all have their own influence on the outcome.
Now that should get you all rattling the keybords!

Has the Sagaris got a wider track than the T350C?

Yes. Even the later t350's with the Saggy chassis are narrower (if you look at one, you'll notice the multiple mounting points for the dampers).

...when did the T350 start to use the Sag chassis (roughly)? Would my Jun 04 car be one of these??

Thanks for all the replies everybody - once I have got used to the car a bit more I think I'll go for at least the geo and corner weighting option, if not the aftermarket dampers (stock ones seem pretty good IMO...) Just need to find somebody who is capable of doing it - my local TVR specialist is Kerridges in Suffolk - anybody had theirs set up there successfully??

Cheers

The T350 chassis has never been any different. The Sagaris chassis and T350 chassis are different - in each of the four corners.
