Everything is fine with the engine; oil useage negligable, temperatures fine, running and driving great. But I've got a slight ticking noise.

Is this something to worry about with the SP6 engine. It has a tad under 14k on the clock (all mine and always properly warmed up/run in).

Cheers

I have the same tapping sound in my engine. The tapping sound has been there ever since I bought it. Thought it was the tappets, but I had these adjusted in my last service, tapping still there. The TVR dealer said the engine was fine.

Don't know what the tapping might be. It is just there and you live with it. The engine seems to be running fine.

That's what I was hoping someone would say. If were NOT a speed 6, I'd just wait until the next service. But because it IS, I really don't want to take any chances.

Maybe I just want to be able to say that I'm one of the growing number of owners that can truthfully say they've never been let down.

So far I definitely Can! I think I'll go and polish another panel to celebrate..

Cheers Ian.

wouldnt worry about it, when i had my tappets adjusted at service and the idling brought down from 1200 rpm to 800 rpm i can hear that same noise over the exhaust now due to lower revs at idle. its normal im told

I don't think it should tap.

Will be either the timing chain touching the cam cover or a loose tolerance on the shims.

indeed, get it checked asap, better safe than sorry. Last time I had a ticking it was a broken engine mount.
