Drove my tamora to Wales, it was an absolute dream. Even managed to keep up with my boyfriends saggy. (one thing I had better mention though, he was running it in so max speed was around 75) but it seemed fast to me. My son who is 9, made a big point of saying "MUM, C'mon, that white vans even overtaking you". Well couldnt have that so decided to drive it like it should be driven. Well, it felt absolutely marvelous, have not been able to stop driving it since. Done around 6 hundred miles already since Thursday. Funny thing though, mate took it out for test drive and called to say doing 220 miles an hour???? I panicked but then realised must be an error on speedo. Noticed on way home I was doing 0 miles. Called TVR centre and was told its common fault with Tamoras and that it probably needed re-setting. Hasnt soured the experience at all. Totally adore my new baby.

You let a mate take it out???? Gasp!

600 miles - EXCELLENT!! They're there to be driven. Just don't be too shocked when the 12k service comes around. Ouch, but you gotta have pain with the pleasure.

I'm sure that there will be some replies about the speedo; mine hasn't done that but there are a number of threads that show that can happen.

Carry on enjoying. Good day for it today.

speedo problem will be the sensor mounted on the diff.

Is this a quick/cheap dealer fix?
Just a sensor adjustment or something major?

Chris

Thanks Graham
I thought water might be to blame for my speedo readings & hoped it would be ok later...

same with my tamora, my bro said it went to 600ish when he wasnt even moving , and it was at 0mph for me once whilst i was driving, abit of a pain when u approach speed cameras coz u cant be too sure about ur speed, its not too bothering but if it affects ur mileage then thats bad!!!

so it must have added 600miles to my mileage frown

My T350 did 226mph... in reverse!!

Unfortunately found out on Saturday that it wasn't a faulty speed sensor (as i'd hoped), but needs a new ECU. Was throwing up EFI Fault code 4 on start-up too.

Could be costly if the warranty company aren't forthcoming with the cash eek

Going back in on Saturday for inspection / repair etc. Fingers crossed!

check the air sensor thats plugged into the airbox- in the middle, as this gives code 4 when faulty

I've had 226 mph on display, and last week I had -247litres of fuel, that's got to be good for my carbon footprint.

cool

I have had this problem with my Tam. The speed sensor on the Diff was faulty and just had it replaced(not that expensive). You have to be careful though. I was not that bothered until I noticed the mileage flying up as quick as the speedo was going(about 500miles in 50). Good luck

Ditto on the Sag. Common fault.
Ditto on the Tuscan. Don't know if it's common, but mine is faulty!

Where does the speed sensor come from? Is it a part robbed from another manufacturer, or is it a TVR specific part? Also, had a look at tvrcarparts and they don't list them, so can anyone recommend somewhere else to get a new one?

Thanks

Bugger! Wish you'd mentioned that a couple of days ago as I've just arranged one through the local main dealer.

Hate to be a doom onger but my Saggie has been doing this as well - ECU problem not sensor.

So, i'm not the only one (see above). Henley Heritage - with input from the warranty company - are currently trying to work out if the ECU should be sent away for repair or how best to source a new one!

Lookin' forward to getting it back though!!

I don't know if this helps but Douglas Valley have a 2006 T350 in that has been written off - only done 900 miles. They still have the ECU available and were selling it for about £450 IIRC.
