Driving during the winter
Discussion
I need some advice...
When I bought the T350T I was intending to use it as pretty much an everyday car, including during the winter. However, I have managed to convince myself that using it on wet/muddy/salty roads will cause everything to corrode at a rate of knots. So, my question - just how good/bad is the corrosion protection on the chassis etc.? Should I just drive it anyway (which is, ideally, what I want to do) or shall I carry on using the Renault Espace when the roads are wet and muddy...? (at least it's the V6 version :-) )
TIA for any help - especially from those who use their cars all year round and have owned it long enough to discover how vulnerable (or not) the car is to bad weather!
BTW mine is an '04 if that makes any difference.
Cheers
Jerry

Chassis coating is better than it used to be. That said, I have seen some 6 month old cars suffering early signs of and there are natural corrosion traps. I recommend waxoyling yearly - the better dealers out there will do this on new cars at PDI and redo at service within the service cost.
The cars are easily drivable through winter, RPAJanwell and I both use a Sagaris as our daily cars. Dont listen to anybody who spouts on about them not being suitable, horrible to drive in the wet/mud/whatever. In normal every day, to and from work driving, you will spin your wheels no more than in your average fwd hatchback.
Corrosion wise, no worries at all. Just treat your car like you would treat anything else that cost you £40k+. A once a yr waxoyl is no bother, or failing that, just make sure you give the car a good clean underneath every now and then. Everycar in winter should receive that anyway, if no9thing else just to remove the trapped mud, crap and debris that gets lodged and stuck in various parts of the chassis.

Look at the front cover of this month’s Sprint. That’s my Sagaris in the snow.
They are useable all year round if driven with care. As Daftlad said above, the chassis coating on recent TVR’s is much better than it used to be.

Aewsome picture Tom

Thanks, credit for the photography must go to my g/f Paula.
