just new to this and would like to hear your comments.. i recently bought a stunning red t350 with a factory fitted redrose conversion, how similar is this to the engine/spec of the sagaris? It seems to eat up every car on the road (including a 911 turbo the other week!)

In theory, the Sagaris 4.0L is around the same HP as the T350 Red Rose (375 vs. 380 something). But I think it has more torque which is what matters. However, TVR change their figures a bit too often for my liking.

I think the biggest difference would be if the Sagaris or T350 were running the close ratio gearbox (your will do either 60 in first, 100 in second = close ratio) or 40ish in first, 83ish in second = normal). A few HP or lb FT difference won't matter in a 20-100mph comparison if one has the close ratio box.

Same gearbox I'd say they'll be pretty evenly matched on the road with the biggest nutter winning

thanks for that! mine does 0-60 in first so im guessing its the close gear ratio. i too, think they are pretty much of a muchness and moving up from a chimaera 4.0, and i loved that four litre gurggle, they seem to just leave everything in their wake and sound superb too! The build quality is infinately better than before and puts a smile on every passengers face thus far!! Good choice of colour too!

Performance is roughly similar...and that is about as good as you can say as each car is usually different with regards to weight, engine spec and sometimes exhaust spec. Not to mention driver ability.

Depends which T350 Red Rose it was - TVR did several engine upgrades - officially the Red Rose was an uprated 3.6 giving an extra 25bhp BUT they also did a batch with Sagaris 4.0 engines giving a quoted 406bhp!

Hi guys i have a T350 red rose with a 4l Tuscan s engine fitted at factory car is unbelievably fast and i have wondered about the saggy performance. I was told my car has around 400bh and 0-60 under 4 seconds but whenever i try to test it i find myself unable to take my eyes off the road. My friend has a 360 spyder and its always great to see him scowling in my rear view mirror hee hee.

All depends on the set up? a t350 with a lowered dif will keep up with a standard Sagaris until it runs out of steam. I guess a RR t350 is on par with a sagaris.

A stock T350 will eat most 911's on the road( experience, not assumption) so I would expect a RR or saggy to monster them.My old Tuscan S was faster but less usable,

In terms of power, there's probably 15-25 bhp between your RR T350 and a Sagaris.

Torque is where the big difference is between your 3.6 litre engine and the Sagaris's 4.0 unit.

Brakes are the same, suspension and ride differs significantly. The T350 is harsh, the Sagaris very compliant.

Your T350 RR with the CR box is an odd ball one. I personaly do not belive the 3.6 has the guts to do the CR box justice. It would also be interesting to undersatnd what final drive your car has. As a T350, I supsect you may have the worst gearing combination available, and not comensurate with extracting the best performance from your car.

My opinion:

Performance - a T350RR with CR box and correct diff vs Sagaris with CR box and correct diff Sagaris would have a noticable advantage. yes

Performance - a T350RR with normal box and diff vs Sagaris with normal box and diff Sagaris would again have the advantage, but not quite so noticable.

Its just my opinion, but posted after owning a blueprinted T350 with standard and CR boxes, and Sagari with Standard and CR boxes.

But it could be a 4.0 litre engine as per the 'unofficial' Red Rose package - how would you tell the difference between a 3.6 and 4.0? Engine numbers?

... Targarama gets black marker pen out and heads to waterpump cover to write 4.0L RR 650hp on it...

Engine number is no real help. We have a factory built 4.0 Tamora, with a 3.6 litre engine number.
