With everything going on at the moment, how does it stand if someone needs a new windscreen? My 02 Tam has started to mist up in one of the bottom corners - nothing major, but it got me thinking about what I would do if a big stone hit the screen and put a big crack in it.

Does anyone else make screens for TVR's and as there is no factory anymore, should we think about getting someone to make some up.

Thanks

RV

TVR never made windscreens themselves. Triplex were the original supplier up to Tasmin but the screens after this were made in a factory in Finland; however they will sell TVR screens to nobody but TVR.
After a struggle, the Griffith/Chimaera screen is available from our stock; we have sourced this from another proven manufacturer. We also stock screens for the Tasmin and earlier.
The later TVR screens are a very difficult shape to make with any degree of accuracy as several glass manufacturers have found to their cost.
I checked last week and there is a chance that 2001 Tuscan and some of the later TVR screens may be available from the factory that supplies us with the Griffith screens.. I intend to check in the coming week when everyone should be back at work.

As Phil says unfortunately I dont think I can source any either. I will ask about getting some made though from the boys.

I would of thought that TVR powers buyout mean't that all suppliers can now supply direct to TVR power i'd give them a call first. I'd be very interested to here the result, like you say one stone chip and crack could see us off the road for weeks

Ive had a new screen fitted to my Tam due to misting up above the dash pod,and water ingress,(which also causes ecu problems),my insurance companys glass fitters couldnt source a screen within 3 months,so my dealer gave me a specialist TVR screen fitters number to ring who had them in stock, he came round 2 days later and fitted the screen at home, did a perfect job,no more misting or leaks,he also showed me where the original screen had the bonding missing in the lower channels. Coincidentally there was also a very small crack in the screen,so I invoiced my insurance company for the £400 bill due to their 3 month delay in sourcing a screen and received a cheque within 5 days.
The job took approx 6 hours to do and is definitely a specialist job as the screen bonding also has the bison/leather stuck to it,if your desperate for a screen Ive still got his number, the company is based in Essex.

Has anyone tried to get a heated windscreen made through Uroglas or similar? It'd certainly help the misting=up problems.

've had a similar issue myself recently. My good lady, bless her, was doing her makeup in the car, turned the rear view mirror to look in and it snapped off in her hand!

Have tried gluing it back on, but to no good. The base of the mirror must be bonded to the windscreen, and appears impossible to shift! Have bought a replacement mirror from Halfords, but its half the size and shakes like a nervous small dog! I know there's a car behind me, but that's about it!!

My sisters fella works for RAC and autoglass. He's looking into getting a new screen for me and apparently he's found that they're on back order and might be several months before he can get one. Interesting as someone has already said, if you get a stone fly up and crack or damage the screen, your car could be off the road for a long time!

If the chip is smaller than a 5p get Autoglass to repair it - it will probably be free if your are fully comp (no excess).

Spoke to TVR POWER today and screens for many of the
range are destined to arrive in March. Apparently
though it is possible to fit the later T350 screens
with a little shaving, a privateer is doing such a
fit, anyone know whom this is pls ?

A little shaving? You care to elaborate on that one?

Is this March rumour the same "there is a batch waiting in Finland and will be with us soon" rumour that has been going for the last 6 months?
