Have had upgraded rear speakers, Clarion head unit and front speakers fitted by Carl Baker. Fabulous sound now, and the fitting of fronts into the doors a brilliant job. Carl is the man, top job.

Got any photos (door speakers particularly) ?

I left my Alpine head unit in the Chim when I exchanged - the pioneer unit is ok but clearly not as good. I may have to get myself an Xmas pressie...

Me too.....

I looked into fitting front speakers in mine, but the audio guy put me off. He thought it would be too tricky as the speakers may not sit flush.

Who is this Carl chap and what area is he in?

Have pictures don't know how to post them yet!! Carl is in Stroud, Hampshire. He has a good website with some photos, the Sagaris installation is near to what he has done to mine.

why didn't he/you fit component speakers up front? there must be somewhere to fit a nice set of tweeters high up in the cabin. that would 10000% improve the front sound dynamic. What he has done looks very neat though

The sound is a million times better and took Carl most of the day. £650 total, £205 for the new head unit, which has a Music Catcher function, whereby can store 4 hours of music in the unit.

We discussed this very point on my Cerb install. Installing the tweeters high up in the cabin at the front can mean the treble in the front dominates the sound to such an extent you cannot balance it out against the rear no matter what you do, because the speakers are so close to you. In addition you have to cut the interior, so you can't return your car to it's original condition, should you wish to take your system with you when you sell the car.

Steve.

I am hoping to do this very thing with Carl, when I pay myself a bonus next month! How does the bass sound?

I know you don't buy a car like this for the stereo but I am thinking of doing the same kind of thing in my T350c. When driving across Europe it would be nice to be able to hear your music during the times when you aren't going through Alpine tunnels

I was thinking of going for 6" x 9" speakers in the rear to get some more bass (I think they will fit) did you consider this at all?

I've also seen what looked like a very expensive pod like install of speakers in the front doors of a T350 with pods finished in the same material as the interior, although this looks good I do not think I would be able to justify the cost so a solution like this would probably be the answer.

I would ideally like to hide the speakers as much as possible as to not detract from the nice interior too much. I wonder what it would look like if you sprayed the grills in the same colour as the interior!?!?

6x9s will foul the boot solenoid. If you move it they will fit. Take a rear speaker out and feel around and you'll find what I'm talking about. I fitted bigger rear speakers (12cm I think) and TVR optional front ones. Stereo is now much better. Still needs more power IMO. Problem is the seats block most of the sound from the rear.

Last week i had the alarm on the T350 adjusted by Carl and discussed a similar speaker install. He advised that the 6x9 route wouldn't be the best option and although it seems a lot of money he promised i wouldn't be disappointed with the MB Quart speakers he fits. I won't even try to explain why but if you give him a call i'm sure he'll explain.

As i'm sure anyone who's met him will tell you, he's a nice guy and clearly knows his stuff plus a lot more.

I have yet to get the speaker upgrade but intend to once finances allow.

I can imagine 6x9s would be a squeeze!

TVR Optional speakers for the front? Interesting, does anyone have any photos of these or prices?
