We stayed in Millau for a week last June after Le Mans Classic. Hooned all around the Tarn Gorge and down to the coast. It was fantastic. 2.5k KM in two weeks and the cars never missed a beat. I removed the front plate to help airflow as the temp reached nearly 40 degs, and all was well.

If you get the chance take a day out and hire a canoe, you can paddle down the River Tarn, plenty of places to picnic and take in the awesome scenery.

Millau has plenty of nice bars and restaurants as well as some great campsites. The way home was also great blasting through the Massive Central towards Orleans at blistering speeds and not a single 'Scamera' in sight.
A hoon to savour and we will repeat this year, not sure about camping though, Chateau hopping seems the way forward, £50 per night B&B for places like this

b*****r was a great car but i have had 2 tvr's before and have now resigned myself to the fact that they totally 'do it' for me personally have had times when i fought the urge but ressistance was futile(and costly) the porsche you will not be suprised to hear a little boring after the first 2 tvr's.
i think that once you have exsperienced them it is hard to go back to a more mainstream car imho

Was down there on the bike last summer and it is spectacular, even though when we were there it was torrential rain and the top of the bridge was in the clouds! Well worth a visit anyway.

We did our usual thing for route planning - getting a michelin map of France and looking for the 'scenic' routes (edged in green). Other general rules to ensure fun are

- steer clear of N roads as much as possible
- only use the Autoroutes when you are in a hurry, or want to do a bit of top-speed testing :-)
- D roads are the place to be (yellow on the map IIRC) - very little traffic, usually very well surfaced, and high average speeds can be maintained if you want (90+ cruising is not uncommon on these roads).

For Millau, I would recommend belting over eastwards from Calais on the Peage for a couple of hours then start heading south on the D roads, staying well East of Paris. We managed to find interesting roads for pretty much the entire trip once the initial 2 hours was over (and that bit of peage is, unusually for France, fairly heavily policed so it is NOT the place to do the top speed test :-) )

HTH a little. You will have a great time whatever.

Cheers,

Jerry
