I would imagine thats the old Dream Machines car - great colour.

Was parked on my drive at home the day after all the dealers collected the cars - then took it to our meet.

Great car, & we very nearly signed on the dotted line - but I couldnt face trading in the Griff.

We named the colour 'Spectraflair Snot' which I thought had a certain ring to it

Lovely. Isn't yours on the market at the moment. Irresistible I would have thought.

Your point being?

As I have stated *SEVERAL BLOODY TIMES NOW AND BEEN RATHER OPEN WITH IT* when I took the dealer demo car out for my test drives...the snot green (as Nick calls it) Dream Machines Sagaris car...I used the full extent of the rev range once the car was warmed up as I was fully encouraged to do by the salesppl. On an hour long run over the Beach Head road (the same on Autocar took the Tuscan 2 droptop over a yr later) and a cpl of selected roads around the area, I drove the car pretty hard. Its how I knew the damping wasnt quite right from my first or second drive and that the car would bottom out at times relatively easily...indeed Im fairly sure I even posted about it on here at the time.

Whenever the debate about buying used dealer demo cars comes up, I *always* state my position which is against buying them and then why. Sorry lads, but Im not going to apologise for driving a dealer demo car...esp one purporting to be the hardest sports car on sale in the UK...exactly how the sales folk encouraged me to do, nor am I going to lie about doing so or hide it. I also know full well I wasnt the only ph'er to hammer the hell out of that car on test drives.

Don't expect to NOT be called on a statement like "I've hammered the hell out that car"... what on earth did you expect to get, a medal?

...and that's why I never recommend ex dealer demo cars!

I know several people who 'enjoyed' that car, & drove it in the way it was designed to be driven.

But it was well maintained by the dealership in question so why would it be a problem? And if I recall the fact it was an ex demo was reflected in the sale price.

Davids post might not be 'subtle' but lets face it, demo cars & hire cars are well known for being pushed hard - look at what happened to the car Joust had for the weekend....well part of the weekend anyway

Some things are best left unsaid. It's called tact. I'm sure 'hammering the hell out of it' is great fun and a victimless escapade, but it's rather puerile to brag about it and in all likelihood the new owner will stop by here one day and won't feel better for it.

It's not only completely thoughtless but self defeating anyway for someone to make smug comments while trying to sell their own car and build a related business. It's put me right off the idea of leaving my car unattended in 'safe hands' while work is carried out. I suspect I may not be alone.

Disagree. A demo car is a completely different proposition from a car that has gone somewhere for service or additional work.

For instance, my Sagaris will be going to DJC for some fairly substantial body modifications in the near future. It goes to him as it will to anyone else in the sure knowledge that it will not be taken out and hammered, but treated with respect and care.

On the other hand, the two demonstrator Sagaris that I have bought, including the current one, I know for a fact were "hammered", or alternatively driven hard, while there as demonstrators.

Which is what they were for. And why they are referred to as demonstrators. And why when they are sold they are sold as ex-demonstrator cars. And why when we buy them we fully expect them to have had a hard life. QED.

You buy a demo car with eyes wide open - knowing that it will have been given a good thrashing. To therefore suggest that someone who has bought such a car should not have to hear of this fact is naiive in the extreme.

I also drove that car hard, very nice it was too.

I placed my Sagaris order because of that car!

As the owner of the spectraflair snot coloured sagaris
DJC comments were unnecessary and unprofessional.
I for one will not deal with you in the future.

I feel very naive. When I test drove my T350, I certainly pushed it but would never dream of 'hammering the hell out of it'. Basically out of respect for the future owner, and the sales guy who probably doesn't want to fear for his life 3 times a day.

I know the price of ex demos are reduced, but I thought this was because the ODD person hammered these cars, not that it was the done thing.

They weren't unnecessary, they weren't unprofessional, they were straightforward and honest.
If he had backpedalled and weaseled out you would be justified, but he has more than adequately responded to the criticism levelled at him.

If you think what he stated has any bearing on his professional ability, you are sadly mistaken.
There are plenty on here who will testify to his unfailing determination to provide excellent service and attention to his customers, and the excellent results of all of his work.

Again, and having met David I speak with some authority, my Sagaris will be having body mods done in the near future, and I implicitly trust him with design, manufacture, and implementation.

I also speak as an owner of an ex-demonstrator, fully aware of what I have bought.
