Went out for a quick blat this evening. I noticed that my headlights on dipped beam were flickering constantly. It wass more a case of them dimming slightly for a split second before retuning to the normal brightness. I also noticed that the on dash display was telling me that my battery was charging between 12.6 and 14.8 volts. the mean being approximately 14.0v. Are the two connected? Any ideas appreciated.

I feel pretty certain that the lights are connected to the battery, but as for the stuff in between, well who knows?

Sorry, got mod fever tonight....

14V sounds prety normal to me, but perhaps you need the alternator checking?

I reckon so. When I first got my T350 I noticed that at night the lights were pulsating ever so slightly - not enough to be of danger, but just enough to notice. Gatwick traced it to a faulty alternator, replaced it under warranty and the problem never re-appeared.

If it does it just the once every few minutes or so then it is probably the fans switching on and off. TVR's super clever electrics are designed to let you know as you're driving along at night. Mere mortals might think it was a badly designed electrical system which would cause this...

Thanks for the replies. I think it is a battery/alternator problem. It has all started since the top end rebuild. Perhaps something has been installed incorrectly when refitting the engine. Still running her in so will have to go back to the dealer for them to take a look. only done 500 miles since October so perhaps lack of use may also not be helping the situation.I must say i am not enjoying running it in again. The first time you can only anticipate what awaits at full throttle. Note to self....RESTRAINT!!

Sounds familiar.

My alternator has just been replaced as it had a faulty regulator. This is also shortly after a top end rebuild.

Mine felt really lumpy and the lights were 'pulsing'. Was also getting EFI faults.

I had up to high 16v readings and as a consequence both the sidelights and one of the rear numberplate bulbs popped.

She's now running as sweet as a sweet thing with extra honey.
