Top blokes - again! Just a quick positive post....

Popped in there on Friday on the way home from a week working away; gradually, over a period of time, the Tamora had seemed to be getting a bit lumpy. No real problems, just not 'right'. Thought I might be a bit paranoid - not used to SP6 engine - but as I was passing it was worth getting some expert advice on how it was driving from one of the experts.

Usual p!ss taking from Mr Slade (wouldn't be the same without proper customer service) but as it returned from it's test drive it pulled round the back and into the workshop with the declaration "Well, it's a bit poorly sick, innit?". How niave am I? Running lumpy = misfiring/running on 5 cylinders.

A fair bit of the old frowning and head scratching, and Martin found me a courtesy car so that the Tamora could stay there whilst they sorted it.

Which of course they did. Collected it early this morning and it drives like a dream. Apparently a problem with valve clearances, which Martin was surprised and unhappy about as it's only 3000 miles after it's 12k service.

However, all sorted and told to keep a watch on it (even if I get overly paranoid) then it will be looked at again at it's 18k service.

I'm a technical numpty, so no hefty replies of what might have caused it, or doom and gloom over what might subsequently happen as it will probably mean nowt to me. This is a positive thread, for two reasons;

1. At short notice Martin and they guys helped me out; took it in, found a car and sorted the problem,
2. It was done under warranty.

So these guys continue to look after their customers as great as they always have. Thanks gents.

wow, great RG service again! Running on 5 cylinders from a valve clearance problem? That's one serious clearance problem. Either valves not opening so no go-juice getting in, or not closing so no compression. That's seriously out of adjustment in 3k miles.

Anyone else seen this? I would press for a more detailed explanation of how it came about.

Comments duly noted.

I'll be talking to RG and will update on the situation as and when.

There's always a silver lining; warranty all sorted out = rebuild covered.

Warranty NOT all sorted out = £6.5k I cant afford, one MEGA pissed off wife..... and a silly, upgraded, modified engine!!

Hey - you HAVE to look on the bright side.... Don't you?
