After recently buying a T350, I need to replace the rear tyres. The front has nearly new Eagle F1's so was going to replace the rears with the same brand. However I have read the Toyo's are a little stickier. Just wondered what everyone else recommends? Cost dosnt matter as I just want the best tyres after finding out for myself how lively the back end is!!
The size of the rear tyres are 235/40/ZR18. I also read that people were fitting wider tyres, upto 255, just wondered if anyone was running this size tyre and if so any probs. I know this has been covered before but I cant find the thread! Thanks for your help

I've just put the Silverstone Performance SP12 wheels on mt T350c and I'm running Goodyear Eagle F1's 225/35 Front & 265/35 Rear. So far, I've been very impressed with the SP12 wheels (less tramlining and better high speed feel through the steering wheel) and the wider tyres at the back give noticeably more grip. Also, I'm more than happy with the GY F1's - I've heard Toyo's are a bit softer, don't last as long and are not as good in the wet.

I've got 265/35 Toyos on SP12s and would agree it's a better size. I've been happy with Toyos for the past 3 years in all sorts of conditions.

However when I had the spiders on I was running 245/40. I'd definately go for these over the 235/40 regardless of what make tyres you go for.

I've got the SP wheels on, do you need to have the geo reset when fitting these 265 tyres on? thanks.

Isn't it best to check it when you put any tyres on? Don't know for sure though.

Mine were done as part of a 12k service and needed a reasonable bit of set up.

I`ve been running 255/35x18 Toyos on the rear of my Tamora for 4000 miles now, no problems with clearance, ride quality or gearing, there is a little bit of extra grip, but nothing too marked.

Thanks for the advice. 255/35's it is. Priced up F1's today in that size and can get for £100 plus VAT each. Dosn't seem to bad. Current tyres JUST above wear bars so I think it's best to change soon!!

Not sure 255s are ideal on the standard spiders. They have an 8.5" width rather than SPs 9".

Matt Full SP has done a lot of research into it. I'll see if I can find the thread.

Yeah be careful mate, I drove my Rover shed into the back of a Discovery this morning as it was really slippery. Doh!

255s seem to work fine on a Sagaris with 8.5" spiders?

Yep 255`s are fine on the rear, they are standard now on late Tuscans and Sags, SP don`t seem to think there would be any problems either.

I have a set of 1000 miler Eagle F1s going cheap off my Sagaris (replaced by R888s after running in mileage) if you're interested.
