Hello

I have just picked up my new (to me) 2004 Tamora and I'm chuffed to bits with it.
www.neilboyd.com/images/Neil_Tamora_side.JPG

I put it in for a monster service as soon as I got it and the drive is fantastic.

I do have one niggle, though: I've driven a few other Tamoras but don't recall them feeling quite so tight on space for the driver (I'm 6ft tall).
[Actually I've got more than one niggle but, for now, let's just deal with one.]

The driver's seat doesn't seem to slide as far back as the passenger's seat. So much so that I have acres of space at the rear of the driver's seat - I can easily fit a few 500ml bottles of Volvic on the floor behind my seat, for example. For the avoidance of doubt, it slides forward ok (granted, it doesn't lock in place so well so at least there's no chance it'll be nicked by a short-@rse) and the recline action seems fine.

Questions:
1: Is this normal? Is there really no way for me to get my seat to slide further back?
2: If you have a Tamora and the base of your seat seems to go right back to the rear bulkhead, would you mind sending me some pics so that I can run it past a mechanic?
3: If you are slightly vertically challenged and have had a dealer modify your seat to lock it so that it doesn't (accidentally) slide backwards, would you please let me know what was done - maybe I'll need to undo this on my car...?

Thanks for any help you can give,
Neil

If you need more leg room the pedal box has three positions. The cars come with the pedals in the middle as standard but they can go about two inches forward or back. I had mine moved forward as i'm not tall! It took the garage about an hour.

Maybe the last owner was extra short and had the seat rails moved forward? Are there any extra holes in the floor where the runners bolt through? To the best of my knowledge both seats go back equally far. I'm 6ft 5 and fit in my T350 OK (which I think is the same 'down there').

some owners seem to childishly leave bottles of water behind the driver's seat whcih can become jammed!

rolleyes

Funny you should say that - its amazing what you can find underneath the seats of a newly-purchased second-hand car. The harder it is to access the more likely you are to find stuff:
- a copy of "burnout Revenge"
- 2 lighters
- cigar lighter thing from the dash (I just thought it was missing!)
- £0.73 in loose change
- a Morrisons fuel points card

I also discovered a Sony Ericsson bluetooth car kit, but that was fully wired-in and working. A "Brucie Bonus" if ever there was one...!

Go on, have a look in your own car. Maybe there's another Gassing Station thread taking shape?

Neil just checked mine - my seat goes right back until the back can't go any further back and hits the back IYSWIM! If you put the back forward, the bottom goes all the way back.

Must be summit going on with yours.

Thanks Graham.
I suspected as much.

Finding out how to fix it could be a challenge, though.

As far as I know it's the same and if you're a short ass, like me, you want them moved backwards (not forwards as I said in first post) - it helped a lot in getting a comfortable driving position and made getting out of the car easier too.

I think you might still be - mine is probably darker in real life than this picture suggests. Apparently it is Red Bull Blue (?)
