T350 rear quarter light window seals
Discussion
Hi Martin.
Yes i had that trouble over three years ago with my side windows on the T350c. Went back to be fixed under warranty when car was only 3 months old, they came loose again shortly after.
I eventually refitted them myself, but recently i have made two new windows and fitted them myself, you won't believe the trouble i had at the start!!
I now know that its very important to use the correct mastic, as not any old stuff will do, firstly don't use a silicon mastic, as this ain't strong enough, the best type i found to use was 'FIXALL',made by a company called Sudall. Even that wasn't as simple as you would think, because you must choose a particular type of Fixall that contains no solvents.
The reason for the no solvent mastic is that it won't attack the black mask around the inside of the window,if like mine you will see that the black mask was pealing away from the acrilic window, due to it not being primed before fitting at the factory.
when you finally bite the bullet and decide to have a go at it yourself, you will need to re-apply the black mask, and you will either have to find some sort of liquid etcher, or lighly abrade the area yourself, after you have etched the complete area, you must clean it properly, i used petrol lighter fuel as this has no oil in it,or you can use surgical spirits, or even surgical meth's
I think i will stop there, as i'm probably starting to bore you and everyone else.
If you want more info please mail me via my profile.
Good luck......Dave

I've noticed the same problem with the black mask around the rear windows on my T350C peeling away from the window. It looks messy and is not something which seems easy to cover up. Is the only option to remove the windows? I'm not sure how you mean about re-applying the black mask? I've recently asked about the cost of rear windows as I thought they may need replacing!
I'm considering getting the TVR resprayed due to bubbles in the paint making it look like it has spots
(appeared after leaving it with a garage for nearly a year while trying to decide on an engine repair...). I'm guessing the best way to respray would be to remove the windows anyway? If so I would need to re-attach them (trying to save money so may do this myself).
