I am considering buying a TVR for the first time, and have decided to opt for the Tamora instead of the Tuscan, as i have being led to believe they are much easier to live with and user friendly.
The car i am considering is a 2002 Tamora with 7000miles on the clock, i was just wondering whether there was any roll in the body or chassis when cornering hard, as i believe it is the same chassis as the T350 but the Tamota dosen't have a roof. And am i also right in believeing that the 3.6 is a more reliable engine than the 4.0 litre. Also what is the overall reliability like? thanks

The only body roll I get when cornering hard is my beer belly laugh

If your worried about fuel consumption I wouldn't buy a TVR, To enjoy these fun packed, grin enhancing machines you need to put your foot down. No noise no fun, more noise more it costs :-)

Go for it.

There are 3 videos on this thread with an MR2T following me around the Peaks. Should give you an idea of the body roll.

Fuel economy is pretty good, considering. I got 22mpg on a 'football world cup empty roads' drive and 30 is doable on a motorway run.

You'll find virtually all 02 Tams have the 3.6.

the Sp6 reliability mods happened in 04 as I understand it. Dunno what that means to an 02 engine. Someone here will know a lot more than me on the subject!

An early Tamora might suffer from the early Speed 6 issues, However... If I may be so bold, go into this with your eyes open. Servicing costs may be reasonably high when compared to other so called fast cars. It would definitely by worth finding out if the engine has had a rebuild or any problems so far. Main point being that you may need deeper pockets that expected if you get problems with the car.

Having said that, I personally love the Speed 6 engine. No question it had some real issues early on. These may have been sorted by a previous owner (IF indeed they even need sorting). As I have said, go in to this with your eyes open...

Hope you go for it... They're brilliant!!!

I'm in the process of up grading my 2002 Tamora.

4.0L engine conversion and nitro shocks.

Also upgraded from 16" alloys to 18" alloys and have a JP sports exhaust fitted last year.

Just a very big kid at heart
