so who's got my Saggy then?
Discussion
A certain iced titanium (black and portland interior) '05 Sagaris has disappeared from the TVR Centre's forecourt. Just wondering if anyone on here picked it up. It was a great example and very carefully run-in/warmed up every time.
Just hope its gone to a good home as I wouldn't mind buying it back one day...

I am thinking of getting a saggy, is there a great diff in the cars, (own a tuscan s convert)
if you dont mind pits can you tell me why you changed, i would hate to change and regret it as the car i have is fantastic, but i really fancy a saggy.
Sure, the Saggy is a brilliant car. I've covered this in more detail elsewhere but the key reasons I changed were that I wanted a convertible and that I already own a dedicated track day toy, so the extra track ability of the Sagaris was a bit wasted on me.
Overall though I think the Tuscan is the better road car (just). Down a bumpy b-road the narrower, more compliant tuscan has an advantage but the Saggy would regain the edge on smoother A-roads where ground clearance is less of an issue. I'm pretty sure the Tuscan will go on to reach a higher top speed, although nerve is required to max either car I'm sure. That said I never found the confidence in the Saggy's bonnet design that I would have liked. It never came off but the main bonnet catches would come loose far too easily for such a fast car. If I kept it I'd have put on some racing-style bonnet clips and have done with it.
The other thing, and this is purely personal but I couldn't look at the Sagaris without wanting to cut out the slashes. I understand that DJC can arrange this but I thought I'd put the money into a car I can look at without wanting to modify. Which turned out to be a reflex charcoal tuscan, which is currently being missed desperately while I'm in Ireland.
While similarities between the two far outweigh the differences, the characters are distinct. The Sagaris has a real appetite for corners whereas the tuscan is merely excellent at them - very grippy with quick steering and sharp turn-in, but it's just as happy going in a straight line. The Saggy was built to carve.
Overall however the Sagaris was such a joy to own that the only thing I was ever going to replaced it with, would be another TVR. Roll on springtime!

Fantastic reply... Suprised that you think there is less to choose between both the cars that I would have thought! I was under the impression that the Tuscan would much more of a boat in corner and more of a "tourer" (if TVR actually make such a thing!) than the sporty balls out Sagaris? Your experience seems to be that the Tuscan is very capable in the corners... I'd heard it was sort of a hit and hope approach!

That was the mk1 tuscan, even then, it could be massively improved by simple wheel alignment/ properly set up springs and dampers.
the Mk2 moves the game on significantly from what I have read, the fact that its even comparable with the Sag is high praise indeed.

Nice - reminds me of a dealer I went to for a test drive in a Cerby. 30 seconds after start up he launched it down the road red lining in 1st & 2nd.......... I didn't buy it!

I am proud to say that we ran both our TVR's in for 1500 miles before we hired them out! I am sure I will now be shot down in flames........
It's probably 500 miles short of what's required, but also, probably 500 miles more than most get. (1000 mile service = run-in).
Well done for having the balls to run Tivs in your business.

No, you won't: both the Sagaris and the Tusc are in excellent condition, and have been well looked after. It was a pleasure driving them, and they were both treated very carefully while they were with me.

Not at all, Id say well done. Having these car available to the wider public can only be a good thing in my humble.
And thank you too - with all credit to Bespokes in London, who advised us on the procedure for hiring TVR's

It's silly things like this that prevent people buying cars, I bought my Tiv from London TVR and they are good guys. I did not see anything wrong with that video. The car seemed a bit choked to be honest and it sounded like it was only revved to 2,500 revs which will not do any harm to the car at all. Besides do you know if the car was run before this, maybe 30 mins prior perhaps as this is there specialist field and I am sure they know what they are doing!!!
Maybe assumptions should not be made that the engine is cold!
as usual people quoting about nothing serious at all I agree with Figgis 2000rpm max nothing wrong at all, any way how childish to go in with a secret camera. doing dealers harm as usual. People like this should be banned from forum . Tovie you have no problems with these guys i got my Sagaris from them and they have been a great in the way they have treated me as a true customer and have no problems with them great service.
so keep your pathetic comments to your self

I have dealt with London TVR since they began in Kings Cross, I purchased my Tuscan from them which I am still very happy with so much so I am very tempted in buying a Lotus. I'm sure these guys know more than anyone about the workings of the TVR from cold and what they are capable of.
I think it's really sad when some 'know it all' has to resort to secret filming without the permission of the dealership. With the current situation and TVR posting video's and speculating about what a car was revving at from cold clearly isnt supporting the TVR brand.
I have watched the video and how anyone can say what the car was revving at is beyond me especially from standing behind it. I have visited the Park Lane showroom myself and being a closed space something such as a Sagaris is going to sound louder than what it is even at low revs.
As Figgis quite rightly points out, how does anyone know whether the car was possibly started earlier in that day, no one knows!
All I can say is how would the person who took this video feel if he/she was secretly filmed and plastered on the web without the permission. In all honesty I dont think they would feel good about it.
Quite sad indeed to speculate and be deceptive in such a way towards an independant dealer.

Agree 100%. Hardly any revs under no load.
More harm would have been done letting the car fluff at around 5-600 rpm like it was.
