Help -Sag Reverse light switch
Discussion
Got the Sag apart trying to sort out the switch for reverse, as it fuses the brake lights circuit( dont want a GTI in my boot!). I have disconnected it and the circuit (fuse No. 38) is now OK without it. I have wired in an test switch to the main loom in its place and everythings OK with the loom ,I've tested the switch best i can with a test meter buzzer and appears OK but when recconected and reverse selected it pops the fuse again. Dont really want to leave it disconnected to have to take apart again. Might be able to get at the switch better if i knew how to get the gearstick off. Your help appreciated.
Persevered with it and managed to get the reverse switch out without taking gearstick off(24 and 22mm spanners). Found the switch has a fault causing it to short circuit to its body when operated. It is obsolete Ford 'Pollak' EOZR 15520 AA part which is now a TVR power part from Italy. Fitted the replacement OK, just took some setting to make sure it does not switch when selecting 5th gear
