Was expecting this, but the rain seems to channel down to the bottom door seal (near the front) and just fall over the top of it? There must be a general cure for this? Friend with a Griff has 'pinched' a channel into the seal so the water runs down it - not sure it would work here. I've a '53 T350. Any ideas would be appreciated as she lives outside

I had similiar problem and bought new seals and fitted the join at the top under the lip of the window, some would argue that the join should go dead centre at the bottom, but my way worked for me....

Also check the plastic plugs are removed from the bottom of the doors

Interested in how you get on. I have the same problem, and was told by the dealer ti remove the plastic plugs and then pop out othe door panel to check that the weather strip isn't directing the water down the panel and into the car rather than out the bottom.

I've removed the plugs but still have the problem, so it's door panels off next. However, I wasn't told about what you're suggesting, so hope you keep us updated.

I had water issues when I picked it up to, found that the weather strips in mine on both sides had become unstuck, put back problem solved

My new '03 T350 had a very damp drivers footwell but completely dry on passanger side. I knew the car had new door seals so I removed the 3 x plastic washers, as per this and similar threads. Result: water from out of drivers door but non from passanger side. I hope this has cured the 'leak'. If so, another excellent result of this forum.

Hi guys
I haven't tried it yet, waiting for the weekend. What are the plastic plugs for exactly, and why should water come out of them?!?
I'll let you know how I get on - sods law is that it will never rain again until October so I'll never find out, er hang on, no, this is England. The weather sucks.

As I understand it, water will run down the windows and inside all doors so there need to be drain holes for the water to run out. This is what the holes are for. As for the plugs, I can only assume that they are there to protect the insides of the doors from any crap splashing up, as they coincide with the fixings for the door cards. But obviously, this means that the water can't run out....

I unplugged mine last Friday and a little water ran out of the passenger side. But when we were out in the deluge on SUnday - lo and behold, a soaking passenger footwell again. So it looks like there are a combination of factors, and I/we/you could have any permutation; plugs/inner weather shield/seals.

Looks like today will be a car day; just chenged the batter on one, gotta do the weekly checks on the other three - and I'll be fighting with doors cards'n'stuff too.

What do you mean by badly fitting? Mine doesn't fit to the front edge as well as the passenger one does. Apparently this is "standard" (like Microsoft feature ;-)) and my leak is on the passenger side.

i previously had this problem, - where the rubber seal which runs down the front edge of the window (chunky) meets the thin rubber strip at the bottom corner, had been pushed slighly out of place by the rubber block on the door as it is closed, i pulled it back and inserted some black silicone and pushed the seal back in place,

it pushes it just enough to allow heavy rain to run down the inside of the door, swimming pool dryed out with chamois and stuffed heaps of newspaper under the seat to soak up the last of it.

Just taken the door card off and can't really see anything wrong. It was a bit damp but nothing excessive. However it's been in the garage since Sunday so I guess it would have dried out. There was a bit of dampness.

But I've made sure that I pushed the rubber weather sheet inside the door frame, so any water from the windows should run through the newly unblocked holes!

Fingers crossed....

i've taken my cerb to automedon and told dave the my drivers side door leaks. first thing he asked was 'are the door seals crimped?' neither side was. there are indentations on the bottom of the door (two on each of mine) which correspond to where the seals need to be crimped or pinched. He said there was no way the car left the factory like that.* and the seams in the door seals were in the wrong place. he said they need to be in the center of the bottom of the door frame.

*when i questioned it leaving the factory like that, he said 'I BUILT THIS BLOODY CAR!!!!' oops, sorry!

How do you 'crimp' the seals BTW? (without damaging them). It looks like they're done on the inside? My drivers' one was replaced and is now uncrimped.

my passenger side one was replaced by dave, he did not crimp it though, my drivers one is crimped, but it lets cold outside air in, also windnoise bugs me. dont crimp them, just fit them properly

By crimps, do you mean flattening of the seals? If so I know that I've got that, but I'll have to check exactly where tomorrow. Can't see how that would stop water coming in though...

the water runs down the seals to the crimp, which allows the water to flow down the indentation in the door and onto the sill and out.

Awright mate? These door plugs are in the bottom edge of the doors - get underneath the open door and simply prise them off. 3 of em per door. Ridiculous things. Think though that your leak will be seal related, & not due to the plugs. Hope it helps. cheers, J

Drying carpet out. Had a brainwave, my leak is quite visibly caused by the join in the seal being in the wrong place, which seems to divert the water over the edge of the seal. I've basically slipped a small length of rubber petrol hose in each end of the seal to pad it out a bit. It now makes a decent seal with the door. When it rains next (ha) I'll give some feedback
