head unit with Ipod connection
Discussion
After my troubles with my head unit I have purchased a new unit with a attaching lead to plug my ipod into. The lead plugs into the back of the headunit, but my question is how do you route the cable into the cabin so that I can plug in my Ipod.
The only way i can see to do it is to drill trough from the glove box but that seems a bit extreme. !

Just done the same in mine...
I managed to find a gap at the back of the stereo hole (between the glass-fibre and the carpet), and fed the lead down into the recess infront of the gear lever. Now, I know this is not ideal, as you can't 'hide' your iPod. But as a temporary measure it'll do for me.
My car's in for a service next week and Richard at Henley tells me you can get the lead into the glove box, but you need to take the glove box out first. I tried this myself and couldn't do it - talk about tight fit! So, I'm gonna get them to do it for me.
Not much help I know.
Out of interest, which headunit did you go for?

I went for a Panasonic CQ-C5303N head unit. The only reason was I have had head units in the past and find them really good, also it is was on special offer and when they threw in a free ipod lead how could i refuse !
Hi, i have the pioneer flip screen in mine with the ipod white box bit. What i did was take the glove box out revealing the fibre glass, you can wedge the white ipod box behind this inbetween the carpeted upper bit of the foot well (about an inch gap). I then drilled two little holes for a cable ties to hold it in place. You can then have your ipod in the gap in front of the gear stick/under the radio, you cant see it. Works perfect.
