engine mounts?
Discussion
Got a strange noise coming from the car when I go over a few bumps. for a moment I though it was at the back and my torque wrench in the boot, but took my other out this evening in the car to get her ears on the case (hard to hear over the exhaust). I am going to book it in this week, but was wondering if it could be the engine mounts. I know the go after some time, what are the symptoms?

Hi
I had a similar problem when going slowly over speed bumps it sounded like a knock of metal on metal (It didn't sound too damaging just a slight concern). It turned out that the engine mounts had rotted. It cost about £250 to put it right.

Yes that sounds exactly like it.

It it's the mounts there will be a loud squeak whenever you go over a bump. Had mine changed recently - quite cheap if I remember.

changed both my mounts for about £25. exhaust side had broken in two and off side was sagging!
take it you just bought the part and done it yourself? easy enough? i have a sneaking suspision one of mine may have went.
yes, bought the mounts off e-bay, but they are a bugger to fit even with a two post ramp to help! nearside was made a lot easier by removing splitter, undertrays, exhaust etc and then fiddling the old one out and fiddling the new one in. getting quite good at stripping off underside of car now
