General reading around the net and looking at a few of the cars myself have led to my asking what speeds owners and passengers have actually seen out of the car.

I ask not because I intend to see these speeds, but because I have some concerns about the bonnet flying off - it certainly did move a bit on top gear!

The dealer I spoke to said that they can wobble about a bit, but followed by saying that it's all good really. That concerned me and since I did not take the car to anywhere near its top end, I would be grateful for some info.Plus, the dealer mentioned he had seen 180 mph in the car. That does sound like wank.

Also, does anyone manufacture additional catches to secure the bonnet if this is indeed an issue?

Funny I just did a reply on Mr waxx's thread about my Sagaris and mentioned the service bonnet worries.
Haven't tried for top speed yet as I would like a few more miles on it first, 180mph should not be a problem as 150mph (on track)comes up very quickly.(if you can ignore the service bonnet trying to eject)
Dealer keeps telling me not to worry!!
Mine wobbles quite a lot once into 3 figures and does give me the willies (oooh-er)
I just wish we could have the new style bonnet like on the Sagaris at the motor show.
I would be very interested in more secure catches of some sort if anyone knows how and what to use.
Pete.

Talking of bonnets, is it easy to get hold of the star drive key to attach the main bonnet

Managed to get one from the dealership as I had a nervous flip when they'd missed out on tightening one, but they tell me you can get them at Halfords etc. It's just a drilled out anti-tamper driver.

Good luck with the Sag, when do you collect it ? Amazing you managed to source one exactly the spec you were after.

Get the main bonnet locks checked out, mine were in the wrong position, the 2006 model should latch between the two marks and at 90 degrees to the roll pin that goes through the bracket. I ve seen on here some where that its easy to put an extra location on the bottom of the bracket fior earlier cars, with a rat tail swiss file about 0.5mm deep.

Once I got my bonnet sorted so it was stable - a few tiny blobs of weld underneath and the catches that the rotating pins recess into and an adjustment to the angle of the flaps - 165 is the most I’ve had out of it. It would definitely go faster but acceleration above 150 is noticeably slower than my old Tuscan, probably due to the aerodynamics. Stability above 150 is absolutely excellent, it feels as if you are being pushed down onto the tarmac.

A star key for the bonnet catches is available from any decent hardware/tools store.

Nick.
You should have one of the correct star type drive sockets in with the service book/manual, I did with mine. If not as others have said readily available at any tool outlet.
I have never had a problem with the main bonnet just the service one.

150mph allegadley,nudge nudge, wink wink,ayy,ayy.know what I meen.

Mr Twizell, to say you cant do 150 on a track in this country is tantamount to talking out of your rusty bullet hole

My poor old t350 tops out at 145weeping but it does get there fairly quick

Care to name a track where this is possible professor, think you will find that the straights are not long enough and come with the added distraction of a corner at the end.
