In a few weeks my T350T goes in for its 12,000 mile service. This will be the first service I have put it through as the dealer sorted out the 6,000 mile one when I bought it. I have realised over the last 12 months of TVR ownership (my first) that there will always be niggles with the car and although initially this was something I resented I have learnt that it gives the car character. I have been meaning to post a list of "niggles" and ask if thay are just that or if they are something I should have looked at during the service. As I haven't got around to this and the service is looming I thought I would post them here as I remember them and see if anyone can offer me any advice.

Here goes:
The steering has a play on it meaning I can turn the wheel slightly left or right when driving (about a quarter of an inch each way) and it has no effect on the front wheels. It feels "loose"

I have a tiny oil leak, so tiny I have never had to add oil until the other week.

The passenger door is a bugger to open from both outside and in. The catch seems to half release (the door is neither open nor tight shut) and it takes a lot of wiggling with the button pressed to release it. I have heard that the doors can drop, is this what has happened?

Two tyres seem to have very, very slow leaks.

Thats it off the top of my head for now. Can anyone tell me if these are things I should or shouldn't worry about and if I ask the dealer too address them how much is it likely to cost to fix?

Thanks a lot for any help and advice, it is much appreciated.

Cheers - Rippers

hiya,

Seems all cars have little niggles - some more than others, most of yours should be sorted @ service , the door may just needs some adjustment smash (only joking!) my driver door required adjusting too, oil leak could be from a few places - most common seems to be from the oil pressure sensor I had mine replaced @ 12k service, tyres can be refitted which should help unless theres a nail or other nasty involved.

life's too short to worry...

Agreed

Thanks for the feedback. As this is my first service I don't know what will be sorted and what won't hence my rather long winded questioning.

The service is expensive enough without loads of additional expenditure thrown in and I want to avoid any nasty surprises.

Thanks again - Rippers

the only thing that would worry me out of your list is the play in the steering! sounds like a worn rack to me, have you checked the pas fluid level?

some how I missed that, would suggest you get them to check it whilst there although I'm sure thats part of the 12k service.

How bad is the tyre leak? low tyre pressure would cause the steering to become less sensitive.

Oil Leak TADTS - I've had senders/pipes changed, still get the odd drop of oil in the garage.

I'd get the steering looked at - that sounds wrong

As suggested in an earlier post, the oil leak maybe the pressure sensor. They are a common failure - had mine changed 3,000miles ago (about 60quid i think). Even so, mine stil leaves a very small bit of oil on the garage floor but I think this because it is 'over full' at the moment.

sounds like your steering rack could be worn.

i had to replace mine at 17,000 miles as it was too worn to be refurbished by powerracks direct or whatever they are called, £800ish new, i got a refurbished one for £500 from bell hill breakers out of a smashed T350.

try get in touch with power racks and see if they can fix it for you (providing a dealer confirms it needs replaced)
