Heat tape on manafold

A friend is trying to persuade me to heat tape the manafold exhaust pipes. Theory being that the hotter gases travel faster = more power and they look good. Im a bit scared of causing an over heat problem. Anybody tried this?

have you looked at the spped six manifold lately? rather you than me

You could try a ceramic coating. Much better job and more efficient.

mmmh I dont have stainless so i think ill hold fire on this idea.
