Sagaris Diffs?
Discussion
Well daftlad, your hunch was correct after my 29mph at 1k revs in 5th.
Ive had a look with a torch and i do indeed have a 3,46 diff unfortunately.
Would it be worth trying to source a 3,73 or different and what difference would it make to acceleration and mph in the gears.
As you may notice ive not a clue about diffs
Thanks
Nick

Nick,
If you have CR gear box I would ensure you were running a 3,73 at least. If you are indeed running a 3,46 and a normal box, I wouldnt be too depressed.
But.........29mph at 1000 rpm does not sound like a 3,46 (unless I've got my sums wrong). I always associated a 3,46 with 27 per 1000 in top.
Maybe someone who's good at mafs could help.

well TBH it was 28 / 29 ish its hard to drive at 1k revs in fifth as im sure youre aware. And thats assuming the readout is spot on.
Are there any other gears, rpms i can check this out at.
Im surprised the car doesnt feel that much quicker than the standard T350, maybe im expecting too much, going from effin quick to just a bit quicker than effin quick if you know what i mean.
Where should the standard Sag top out at in 2nd when changing up?

Nick,
80-81 mph is where it should be in 5th at 3000 rpm. I presume this is standard as it's how my T350 was, and our Tamora and Blue Sag is, geared (3,46)
Not sure what a Sag does in 2nd with standard? set up (my Lazer Blue car is still not run in...). Drop me a line through my E-mail address and I'm sure we can arrange a meet-up to compare.
PS, was your car one of the first dealer registered cars? (March 05)

Hi John
will check that out then, car was registered 1/7/06
OK will drop you a line through your email, what did you opt for after selling the Blue sag then?

John I'm not, but I've got
www.cartestsoftware.com/cartest2000/index.html
to help me
If interested, send a PM and I'll send you the screen for the Sagaris so that you can verify numbers (easily create a 2nd model in the sim for a CR box / different diff) to compare

I've still got her at the moment...polished and sitting at home, and almost run in.
2500rpm in 5th is always the default measurement. Look at around 67/68mph.
50mph in 5th is borderline 1800rpm I think.
Sorry in 2 months Ive forgotten all my rpm settings, I used to drive on the rev counter rather than the speedo...trust me, learn them...the speed sensors aint too reliable on a Sagaris!

Thats what I thought -27mph/1000, which as I have always understood, a 3,46 diff.

I ran a normal box and the correct large bore system, so my car is a useful performance datum point...well it was before she was de-catted

Nick if you are interested in changing the diff ratio and you live in the south give me an e mail and I will put you in touch with the Morgan Brit car teams cog man who will change your diff to a 3.9 or 3.7 whatever. Its the cheaper way of doing it and this mans family are the importers of BTR

Trust me Nick its worth doing. The 3.9 diff will top you out around 147mph, but the way I see it anything above 150 is hardly or never used and only any use for pub talk.

Is 5th in the CR box as per the standard box? I was under the impression that in the CR box, 1st and 2nd were longer, 3rd and 4th were shorter and 5th was the same. Given that, with a 3.7 diff you are looking around 170mph for top speed.
spoke with a company that are manufacturing replacement cr gears and the 1st 2nd and 3rd are changed as they would be with the factory option, 4th and 5th remain the same ratio.
170mph with the 3.7 would make sense, what with the 3.9 being 150ish and standard 3.46 being 190ish.
Dyno Tested and proof of print out. Close ratio box and 3:7 diff = 174mph
3:7 diff and standard box is a good improvement. So Mr G Hollowpockets if you are to keep the car then I would suggest that you do in fact just change the diff to a 3:7 for starters, You will be impressed. If you want a bit more feel the Hydratrak is the job, they were not standard. Then if you want the CR box and money is no object do the box, but please just try the diff first. All press cars had the 3:7 and what a difference, which is why I specced mine with one.
I will tell you why mine has the CR Box now, but not on the forum.

im getting the close ratio gears put into my T350 sometime soon along with the 3.7 diff.
will wait till next month though and do it all at the same time as a clutch

Graham, Can you let us know how you get on? What your general impressions are before/after the cr box and diff change?
Reason I'm asking is my T350 is specc'd with the CR box, but has a 3.46 Hydratrak diff, and I'm wondering whether I'll really feel the difference in pick-up/acceleration with a 3.73 diff.
Another question for anyone on the forum, the diff ratios mentioned so far, can you get them with Hydratrak or will I need to go non-Hydratrak if I want to go to 3.73?
Cheers
Rich
