Does anyone use this as an everyday car?
Discussion
Hi,
Looking at my first TVR, sadly I am at the bottom of the money chain but could still pick up either a 350 or a Tamora, both i'm told are more reliable than the older models, I however have a strange job where I could drive 4 miles in a week then have to two trips to Manchester and back the week after, am I just living a dream or could these newer cars cope with being treated like a normal car. I would love to buy a old banger to have for the long trips but it just isn't an option.
What do you think?
Cheers

Hi go on do it. I have! I use the T350 daily thorugh Manchester and heavy traffic. It will put more smiles on your face than any 330i or such like, not to mention the looks points and waves from other motorist

Yep. More or less my daily runner (unless I need 4 seats or I'm leaving it at an airport for a week). 18k miles last year, everyone fabulous.
Go for it; but be aware of the running costs if you pile on the mileage.
Oh, and if you're in traffic a lot make sure that at least once a week you take if for a BLAST!

I use my Tamora every day for about 12-13k miles per year. It works fine and eats miles and well as doing stop/go traffic easily. There are some downsides...
Quite expensive to run
There is a risk of problems which can be costly and timely to fix (esp with parts supply and all). If you can deal with that (I can call on other cars to drive if mine ist kaput for a time) and the potential cost, they are brilliant and better for being used regularly.

Well, Thanks for the feedback (to be honest, it is what I was expecting!)
I went to the TVR centre in Barnet today to have a look as I actually hadn't even sat in either the 350 or a tamora, Very nice guys there, who explained that as long as if I got an early one it had had a re-build, then I should be fine. I have to say I've fallen for the 350, it just looks more of a beast.
Im off to Spain for work for a few months, back in July when I will be buying, i might even have more cash by then if i behave myself!
Please dont stop giving advice though guys.... Really appreciate it.

Don't do it. Buy something else.
Have a look at some of the other threads. One chap has one of the roof panels on his T350C blow out on the motorway because the clip had broken. He has now posted to say that he is having trouble obtaining the parts.
Once again people are talking about scrap yards and having the parts fabricated from scratch.
There are many posts on here about the difficulty of obtaining parts. Do you really want that problem?

The more we hear from you, the more you sound like a troll.
From your previous posts you don't even own a TVR. And a T350C with a roof panel?
After the usual first year of little glitches with a handbuilt car, and water in the alarm unit, mine has been fine for 3 years and 22k miles. Best value for money performance you could have, handles like a Lotus but goes like a TVR. Some nparts delays are inevitable in current factory situation while the (plentiful) independent suppliers catch up with demand

That was me, it's a T350t and the clip wasn't broken.
Air got underneath the panel and tore it off, but to be fair I was travelling a bit !

You could of course have your cake and eat it - spend your £22K on a sensible car and a silly car )my combo is an S-Type for tedious treks and a Griffith for fun blats...). You don't have to spend £22K to get a decent TVR.
But since when did you ever listen to an old git like me?

Do it. I have 11 mile commute each way, and do 7 - 12K miles per year.
A word or five of advice, ensure that you drive it regularly (stops seal etc drying out and getting clogged), always warm the car up to 60C (by driving, not parked) before you rag it and change the oil twice as often as recommended (i.e. every 3k miles), especially if you only do short trips.
IMO around 10 miles (or much much more if you have the opportunity
) is the perfect commute as it allows the engine to fully warm up
