I could have sworn that previously a noise that I was told when I bought the car was the (lecky) power steering pump fired up when you turned on the ignition. You could def hear it. Now I can't! Am I going deaf? Or did I dream it. The power steering works when you start the engine though.

Before starting the engine on turning on the ignition the PS pump will start & run for a few seconds this is unless the imobliser has timed out, then it will start & run for a few seconds when the key fob is pressed again.

The noise you heard might have been the fans/flaps moving. Turn on/off the fans (push the knob once) and try again.

Interesting, I have got lecky gremlins (no ventilation fan) so it could be connected. It's going to RG friday and Martin thinks it's the dash ecu bustified.

What do the flaps do? too much of a newbie to have worked that bit out!
