Brake Pads

I need a new set of pads and was wondering what people are using? What is a good fast road pad? I've got EBC Redstuff's on at the moment and the brakes have been upgraded to 322mm Tuscan s.

Ferodo DS2500 are a popular choice - do a search on this forum.

I was told they squeal a lot when cold and told to stick to the std ones.

Mine need replacing soon and I'm in two minds too.

For those of you with them, some info on daily usage would be appriciated.

BTW, I do a 200 miles of Motorway/Fast A road at weekends and 5 mile x 2 town during the weekday.

If it's for road use only then the standard pads are fine. If its for track use the standard pads will fade under fairly hard use.

Hello everyone,

Bought my first TVR last Friday. I moonraker black T350 and so far I couldn't be happier.

I've done a few searches and come to the conclusion that Ferodo DS2500 and the brake pad of choice and Toyo Proxes T1-s the tyres. Can someone recommend a cheap supplier? I've found a few through Google but want to double check I'm getting the best deal.

I believe the Toyo Proxes T1-s were reaplced with T1-R diference being reinforced sidewalls, I have these fitted and find them great and you can get good prices from either www.blackcircles.com or http://mytyres.co.uk, and probably others.

I use Toyo R888 and Mintex F4 pads - quite superb.

The stiffer sidewall improves steering response and I'm not sure you want that on a T350 but it was a welcome on the Sagaris.

Ferodo DS2500 source is the UK distributor - can't remember the name/number, but should be finable with a search on this forum (go back 2 years). Think he was based in Dunstable or somewhere near there.

Mine have never ever squealed either.

Darren, I gave you the spare ferrodos when I sold you the car, you should still have them! The pads are the same as std 304mm, as the calapers are the same...

DON'T DO IT!!!!!

I've tried various EBC pads on a variety of cars over the years and come to the conclusion that, whilst thay're reasonably priced and readily available, that's all they have to commend them. And don't believe a word of their claims about producing less dust than other pads, it simply isn't true.

GREENSTUFF Used these only on the back of a Chim and out performed the standard material and really clean, and didnot upset the balance.
Worth a try on the T350 Sag Tam?

Lensey, I'm getting close to needing new discs/pads all round. I'm thinking of upgrading the front to Tuscan S, as you have and have 2 or 3 questions. I understand the 322mm discs are not significantly more expensive than the OE set up, is that your experience? Also, as the S discs are a straight swap (?) the only other extra is a mount to 'back out' the caliper, again, is this correct? Finally, have you noticed much difference on the road?

I'm running Sagaris spec disks on the front (Same as TuscanS). They fit with suitable spacers. However, getting spacers that do the job is not easy. Top Cats had a nightmare adapting the spacers TVR Power provided with my new discs to fit. They said they thought there are 4 different types of spacers that could be needed. They had 2 types in stock and supplied them. Guess my car was type 3 or type 4...

STD AP pads are Ferodo DS2500. My recommendation for good fast road/occasional track use.

ER, I didn't have the discs changed, Mr Freefall did that before me, I know he had the spacers made too, so unfortunately I don't have the experience of the old discs. I know that Mr Freefall changed them because of the extra power.
