Hi mate, i have just had my Sag in for a service, and a fuel issue! I have had to pay for the fuel issue
as the TVR Branch Racing green are not prepared to take the knock for it...as they aren't getting any money back from TVR for the Warranty repairs. I hope to be able to claim this money back from TVR... Not happy about the out come at all. Cheers

Nope, all dealers have stopped doing warranty work for free, due to there being nobody to pay them for the work! There were a handful of dealers still doing it, but those have now stopped. Best thing is to buy yourself a thirdparty warranty.

Save your money and use a good independent for a service. Then get the work done with the money you saved. Don't pay out for a TVR dealer service, when the warranties means fcuk all.

my sentiments exactly - the warranty dosent exist any more as there is no company to honour it right now.

Get yourself an aftermarket one if you want piece of mind...and goto a specialist for servicing

we've had to pay for a few things recently on our Sag

Rob I had some warranty work done on the car when it was in my ownership. When it left said ownership to Nerv the balance of the warranty was on the car. I also had some none warranty work done. In theory TVR Power *were* taking warranties. If you want more specific details send me an email and Ill answer as best I can.

I don't dispute some people are paying for warranty work, I dispute that no one is doing any warranty work. End of comment on the subject for me I'm afraid as I suspect the topic will become quite emotive and I for one dont wish to get involved.

Sorry Daftlad, but you are wrong - unless things have changed in the past 3 weeks when I enquired with various dealers about what warranty I would get on a 'New' stock TVR, there are now no dealers left doing the 3yr warranty work for free. My conversations with the dealers were all pretty much the same - they at the time had been told that the 3yr warranties were to be continued under the name of Auto Protect (who underwrote them for TVR in teh first place), however they were waiting for final confirmation, so until then the only proviso's being made are dealers who wish to retain their customer loyalty by doing one of the following.

- Selling their new and used cars with a third party warranty that THEY are paying for and subsidising in the price of the car.
- Doing small (that's the key word!) warranty items for free to existing customers who purchased the car from themselves before the warranty went tits up.

The buyer of this car needs to be fully aware of the facts. He bought a second hand TVR privately and it is 99.99% certain no dealer will touch him for the 3yr warranty work. No business would do expensive work for free and not get paid for it, it would be tantamount to financial suicide.

So in short, I'm not disputing that there are cases out there where dealers are trying to retain business, however in this case it would be highly unlikely if he got any 3yr warranty work done given the circumstances.

Speaking on a 'blanket' level no you're not - but your answer was wrong and very vague (and potentially VERY misleading) in relation to the posters original question. Why you couldn't expand on your reasons is beyond me?!?

Let's say for example the poster took your answer on face value and didn't bother with a 3rd party warranty - something expensive goes wrong and no dealer will touch it, he is then left with a huge bill. All that can be avoided if people are blunt and realistic with the facts.

I wish people would stop kidding themselves, in the current climate the TVR 3yr warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on, and TVR is dead and buried.

I was speaking on a 'blanket' level and at that level as I said before, I am not wrong. Why I dont expand is I just cant be ar*ed anymore - too may heroes on here with little or no experience of the marque are happy to shoot down any honest advise given and I've grown tired of it - you my friend are a prime example.

If the poster took my answer on face value and didn't bother with a 3rd party warranty - something expensive goes wrong and he is then left with a huge bill, well to be brutal, he deserves all he gets. I assume hes over 21?

I 'm not kidding anyone about the TVR 3yr warranty or the state of TVR.

According to this month's Sprint if you go along to your dealer you will be given a 'modified' warranty which TVR will honour even though legally they don't have to apparently - let us know what modified means and how you get on.

exactly what I was told - we were getting small niggly type stuff done as goodwill (1 year old car from supplying dealer) ..but anything major then we had to pay parts at least

the clutch cylinder went on ours at 13K miles and took the clutch with it...we just got charged for parts on a goodwill basis

You are wrong. There is a big difference between a dealer carrying out work as "good will" on a car which maybe technically within it's period of warranty cover as against them carrying out work as part of a warranty claim.

The former is the dealers' own business decision based upon the value of the repair versus your importance to them as a customer..

The latter is/was a contractual obligation from the manufacturer where the dealer would submit a claim to them and either have that claim accepted or rejected for reimbursement once the remedial work had been completed. I don't think there is much of this going on at the moment TBH.

As has been mentioned ad nauseum, your contract is effectively and legally with the dealer with respect to the sale of the car and action/ threat of action against the dealer may well get the job done but it still wouldn't be warranty.

Well, yes you are wrong. Clearly.

Rob is buying a TVR with the manufacturers warranty, as many marques would also come with. The difference is that the TVR one is no longer worth anything & therefore, yes, he should know this himself (being a car fan), but people on here shouldn't also say things are rosy when they clearly are not.

There's a reason why you can now buy a Sagaris for 30k & it isn't because its a cr@p car because it clearly is not. There is however still 'issues' surrounding the marque which aren't doing it any favours.
