Sagaris or T350????
Discussion
Having alternated between 911's and TVR's for about 6 years I am now back in the market for the latter. The budget would maybe stretch to an early 15-20k miles Sagaris (private) or a late 2005 dealer T350. I like performance and the car is for weekend fun. I have heard that the Sagaris though quicker is a more forgiving drive but I have also heard that the T350 makes a better road car. Comments would be appreciated. Also, targa or coupe? The targa looks good in theory but does it leek and whistle in true TVR style?!

Drive them both, they have different personalities and suit different driving styles. Then choose. Although the Sagaris has different suspension they're all basically the same with some T350s having 4.0L engines too.
Targa panels don't leak and only whistle over 100mph. Mine are virtually silent up to this speed.

both great cars that were a joy to own. The sagaris is a little more forgiving at the limit and it's a lot more attention seeking (good or bad depending on your pov). Looks wise I think the T350 shades it - just - but that wouldn't be the case if they'd removed the vents (which can now be done - see DJC for details). But compared to a vents blocked up car the T350 is a design that needs no finishing touches. To my eyes it's a masterpiece. Otherwise drawbacks of Sagaris are the ground clearance at the rear which is only a factor on bumpy b-roads and that dreaded bonnet design. For me the latter is the biggest flaw of the design. It looks sensational but on my car at least was often coming loose and never inspired much confidence at high speeds. And while the difference in straight line speed is not great, it is there. The sagaris is the quicker car and a more polished performer.
I have owned a Tamora (great drivers car) and Griffith and the reason I want a hard top TVR next is that I have had it with trying to fit the roof panel in the boot and pulling out the rubber seal in the process!! Thats why a T350T has appeal.....the panels go into the boot so easily!
T350 or Sagaris? I think I have reached my personal decision. On its day the Sagaris would be great; jaw dropping looks, fantastic performance and a real special occasion to drive. HOWEVER, the T350 has smooth classic lines and one could argue that the Sagaris design is a bit 'in your face'. For those times you need to park up in a town a bit more discreetly the T350 does'nt quite shout as loudly 'hey, come and look at me!'. Performance is still more than enough for the road and the occasional track day and the added couple of inch ground clearance will certainly help on the rural roads around my way. My final swaying factor is the targa panel roof. It may be give a bit of wind noise and look a little bit turtle-like but I'll use this car in the main on sunny days and it just gives that taste of open top motoring. Oh yes, the T350 costs about £10k less too!!!
