How TVR Owners sometimes spend the weekend...

and fellow pistonheaders as well- Thanks dnb- without your help I´d still be sitting there on the drive

:
- well done
On Saturday morning I went for a short spin to the hospital- as it was Saturday it was also my fluid checking day and I had put in a sip of water to top up as usual- ariving at the hospital there was a bit of water collecting under the car (engine still could at that time)- So I thought I either slightly overfilled it or air condition condensation fluid???
On the way back (engine now warm) I know I was in trouble
when water temp reached quickly 96 degrees and kept climbing- managed to pull in at a friends with 120 degrees (luckyly oil did not get over 95 degrees) After switching off engine a massive coolant puddle accumulated on drivers front end under diffusor(when I opened expansion tank steam...)
With Daves help (well actually he did the work) we found out that the hose to the right radiator side- tank went pop (as there is no rim on the pipe the hoseclip was screwed exremely thight and probably wore out the hose
)
Luckily Dave had an old RV8 hose which he could fit and bring me back on the road until replacements can be ordered and after refilling the engine sounds still OK
Just a few questions (I am sure there are people out there with similar experiances
)
As everithing sounds OK and the oil did not get too hot should I just go on
or should I have the top end looked at (as it was certainly a thermal challenge???)
should I get silicone hoses as replacement for durability (I think ACT just developed some for the S6)
and finally do I need to replace the teabag (
) our friends from blackpool left behind the hose
(on top of the front diffusor) and if so with what Earl Grey??? Ceylon???
Answers (at least to the first two questions...) are- as always apreciated
Cheers- and thanks again Dave

120 deg does sound a bit high, but if it had dumped a lot of the water already then that is possibly the air temperature being circulated around the engine in pockets with the remaining water. The temp sender is at the top of the engine somewhere and susceptible to air pockets (so I read). Mine only went to 102 yesterday (see my other post) and then only for a second doing the usual 94/96/102/94/91/91 type thing in 2 seconds (lovely TVR software). Thing is, what do you check on yours? Compression/leak through? You'll soon know if you've got a problem anyway if it uses water/oil - so long as the fans are working and the temps come back down things may well be fine.
I'm considering replacing all my radiator hoses with ACT Silcon ones if they make some for my car - there are several points where the std hoses rub and I'm paranoid one will rub through soon.
