Got an intrim oil change when i got my clutch done bout 500-600 miles ago. Checked it this afternoon (I check bout every 500 miles) only to find that there was oil bout 1/2 - 1 inch up the round part of the indicator.
Thats too much right?
Had it at bout 80 degrees and checked within 1 minute off turning eng off.
I posted topic "black exhaust pipe" couple of days ago. Could too much oil cause this symptom?
What else could too much oil in cause? left exhaust is clean as a whistle always.
wierd because the sooty pipe has only been since the oil change.
Also is there a lamdba sensor for 3 cylinders n 1 for other three or all done from 1. really starting to worry now !

I think you will find that your oil level will vary alarmingly depending how you measure it.I measure mine when the oil is hot, hold it at 2500rpm for minute and shut off instantly. My oil level will just be on the end of the dipstick,if you now allow it to idle for a minute the level will be way over fulland if you look with a torch the oil will be just at the bottom of the filler neck.Check yours and see if its as bad.Basically the tank is too small and the dipstick too short!
I slightly over filled mine just before a servcie. My friend said that a more modest overfill may result in oil airaiting, causing foaming to the point where it meets the pistons on the way down and can get sucked past the rings on the intake stroke. Best to drain a little off if its anymore than 1/2 inch over the max.
cheers, i got soot spitting out landing on the defuser like little black spots if driven hard so i'm hoping it is a lambda sensor. Mpg has been shocking recently.
I will report back after its service in a few hundred miles.
Would the new exhaust have any effect on the sensors as it happened right after the new TVR power pipes where fitted and the oil change was carried out.
cheers again

Was told by dealer that as the engine is dry sump it doesn't matter, it'll use only what is required! Oviously though, don't let it go too far below the indicated mark, and regular weekly checks are certainly recommended.
Correct unless you corner hard on a trackday; 1/2" overfill sent the oil up through the breather pipe into the air filter on mine a few years ago. No damage, but dripped oil from air intake pipe for a few days, and clogged filter up very slightly.
