I have this strange thing where my gearbox sometimes seems to stick when I try to get out of gear (often 3rd). In normal warm use the gears disengage very easily and smoothly, but with increasing frequency I have to have 2 goes to disengage. First time, pull, no go. 2nd time change seems ok.

It makes me think that the gearlever is stuck in an notch and has to be jiggled out to make it loose. That's clearly not the case!

I don't think it's the clutch. If I try a test and don't disengage the clutch fully, I can take it out of gear relatively easily (like I would doing a clutchless gearchange - not something I do in the Tamora).

This is all in granny-driving mode, not hooning.

Anyone cast any light on this?

Thanks
Bert

Had the same problem when I drove a T350 demostrator ,I had the seat too far back and wasnt getting full clutch movement. Therefore in my experience its either a problem with the clutch slave cylinder or You simply are not pushing the pedal to the floor.Cheers simon.

Thanks Simon. I have been driving the car for about a year and it's just started. Also today when it happened I def had the clutch pedal all the way down. If I do try it wtih the clutch a little up, the feel is very different.

Oh well it'll either get better or worse!

Hi there,

I had the same thing on my T350 - and it was the slave (or master) cylinder - sorry I can't remember which.

Cost about £850 at a dealer to get sorted.

Sorry to be the barer of bad news.

thanks Ropey! It's getting annoying now and my clutch seems to bite almost at different places. Had the same symptoms on a hydraulic clutch on a BMW some years ago. That was the slave cylinder.

Hey ho, it'll be covered under warranty!

You have the infamous broken release fingers syndrome.

Pressure plate is not lying vertically so the bite point varies.

Warranty should cover most of it - they did when mine went at 10,000 miles.

Replacement clutch is a revised (stronger fingers) design.

Just had my clutch replaced and mine started doing this. Became a bugger to get out of 1st or reverse when parking. Transpired to be a faulty clutch which has just been sorted.
