Tamora Heater Flap

Having trouble with heater flap and understand it quite common.
Flap will motor down but will only motor up a short way and motor seems not to have much torque.
Does anyone know what the microswitch below the flap is supposed to set to do ?
Does it tell the flap motor to stop when the flap is fully down ? Doesnt seem to do anything on my car. If it is supposed to tell the flap to stop when its down, then what tells the flap to stop when its fully up?
Its about £60 for a new motor so need to be sure its that at fault.
