Just thought I'd take the T350 out for a blast in the glorious sunshine (while it lasts). Start up procedure all went fine until the last click of the ignition key, what sounded like a quick click from the starter motor solenoid and then nothing. In fact all of the electrics went a bit screwey, alarm worked then it didn't, doors would open/close, then they wouldn't, found myself locked out... After 5 minutes it seemed to have reset itself and everything is now fine except it won't actually start - no noise from the starter motor at all. The battery is fully charged.

Anybody else had these symptoms.

I'm thinking maybe the 100A fuse (not sure where this actually sits in the wiring so no idea what problems it causes) or the alarm/immobiliser or starter motor solenoid.

Cheers,
Martin

I'm now thinking its the immobiliser. The red LED above the immobiliser fob socket is illuminated all of the time, even if I lock and unlock the car or plug in the fob.

If I disconnect the battery in the hope that it resets, is there anything else I need to do? (my Land Rover has a sequence with the ignition key to stop the alarm from sounding when the battery is disconnected)

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Sounds like water in immobiliser ECU in passenger footwell behind carpet, a frequent problem.

From earlier thread;

I have moved mine up the bulk head behind lose foot panel with the loom facing DOWN!!! so any water that does leak will not enter straight into the alarm ecu.

yes This little mod is very worthwhile for 10 minutes work folks - I realised I couldn't plug the well-hidden leaking joint, so turned ECU's upside down 4k miles ago, after recurrent problems with alarm & door ecu's if I parked facing uphill and it rained (or I washed it!!) No problems since, despite frequent uphill washing biggrin

Thanks for the reply - sounds like a good mod and I'll do that. Don't think that's the problem I've got though as the car lives in the garage and hasn't been used in the wet for a few months (I have a dodgy knee and too much use of the clutch pedal sets my knee off, so the Tiv's only getting the occasional run out on a dry day).

I did disconnect the battery and the immobiliser reset (LED flashed when it should and went off when it should). Tried starting the car and went straight back to where I'd started - LED now on continuously...

OK, sorry it didn't help. I know the door ECU has to be disconnected for 30secs before it resets... other than that can't suggest anything else

Maybe someone else can, otherwise a chat with a friendly dealer scratchchin
