Unfortunately on my home form work on Saturday, I drove over a pot hole (It was raining heavenly and it was in a big puddle) and have seriously bent my nearside front wheel taking a big chunk of tyre out of the side wall, the nearside rear wheel also has been badly bent, causing the rear tyre to deflate. (tire weld is not worth S**T two tins later and the tire was still flat, I was only 1.5 miles from home so drove the car back doing about 5Mph).

So in summary I need to replace a front and rear wheel along with tires. Some of you will remember this is not the first time I have had to replace an alloy wheel!!! It was only the begging of May that I had to replace the nearside front.

The question is should I replace with original spiders or should I up grade to some stronger after-market wheels?? Suggestions and opinions much appreciated.

I will be taking some photos of the Pot hole on my way home from work this evening, and getting in touch with my solicitor. Hopefully resulting in some sort of refund from the local council.

Silverstone SP12s are really good. Excellent service from Matt as well.

Sorry to hear of the accident - take it no steering rack problems or anything else?

Re SP12's, has anyone had a set in black / anthracite?

These are good quality. Lighter and stronger than the spider.

Bit of a tip.

Same thing happened to me a couple of years ago in my Audi A6 with 18" alloys. I was about 150 miles from home and had to pay for a tow truck as well.

I wrote to the council in qiestion and thay dold me to s*d off.

So I downloaded the small claims court form from their website, filled it in and sent it back to the council with a slightly more forceful letter basically saying pay up or I will send off the form and stsrt proceedings.

Chequue arrived in 7 days and I didnt incurr any solicitors costs.

Im not a big fan of the claim culture but if its genuine I think its only fair.

Have a go - its worth a try.

Hope your back on the road soon I hear the summer has arrived this week !!!

Thanks for the replies, I have ruled out replacing with spiders as the local roads don’t seam to be improving and the spiders are made from spaghetti. I spent a bit of time looking at wheels yesterday and I really like these: http://www.tvrpower.co.uk/store_alloys.php

I believe these were the wheels on the first Sagaris??

Does any one know the correct wheel off-set front/rear for a T350??

I have read a lot of post on pistonheads regarding making a claim from the local council, there is some good advice I am defiantly going to try and peruse some kind of claim.

Ok, so I have just received some 18” Jordan 5 spokes identical to the one’s sold by TVR power and ACT. I finally got them form the main supplier, Vogue International – 0116 2570 777. (Rim stock AKA team dynamics manufacture the wheel but don’t distribute) I paid £550 delivered next day, they look the business on the car!! Although the wheel centres that came with the wheels are rubbish and I will need to replace them.

So I have five 18” TVR spiders for sale, two (1 front, 1 rear) are in perfect condition, the other three are bent. They have just been put on e-bay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/18-TVR-Spider-Alloy-Wheels_W...

I will post photo’s of the car with its new wheels on as soon as I can.

Thanks for the help

just get some wheels done black if you like them ...ours has matt black wheels (Rolex blue car) and they always look clean, and are a doddle to clean...just soap n water and a quick wipe smile

Don't go near the Jordan wheels. The quality is awful. I ordered them and the first set were all different colours and I don't just mean slight I mean "o my god" different.

My wheels all look the same colour, the quality is not 100% but feel as well made if not better than the Spiders. They are heavy though, at least as heavy as the spiders. I will weigh them to compare. I’m not too fussed, I have got a set of wheels that look good and are hopefully stronger for less than it would cost to replace my two damaged spiders.
