Well seems like my week that started bad has continued to get worse, the Tamora was in for a 6K service last week and engine mounts needed replacing too which were ordered and fitted, picked it up Friday everything seemed great, whilst cleaning it tonight decided that the bonnet did not look quite right.

Here is where it goes horribly wrong, first I think that perhaps it's down to the bonnet catch so slightly adjust that smash, nope still same, ok next I try the bonnet hinges smash, no that's not helping either and thinking it will save me having to reach into the car to open the bonnet I decide to remove the bonnet catch, this proved to be the single stupidest thing next to deciding that I would try and fix this myself. I dropped one of the bolts and it's washer into the engine bay furiouseek
So now not only does my bonnet not fit flush, I can't even put the bonnet catch back on as I do not have a spare bolt :-(

If anyone has any info on how to adjust the bonnet I'd really appreciate it, and I have learnt another lesson in future I will let people who are good at this do it and just keep driving, cleaning and polishing them.

Ahhhh, bugger. Sorry to hear that David. Sounds like you have about the same level of mechanical capability as I do.

Took me over half a day to change a bloody 100amp fuse when most people say it takes half an hour.

AND it wasn't the fuse!

Hope you get it sorted PDQ.

I know the feeling. Have you tried fishing out the itinerant bolt/washer with a magnet?

Thanks for replies, I have a feeling that the airbox will be coming out when I get back from work tonight, once I have that I will get it back to the garage to get them to re-set the bonnet, if anyone does know how to adjust the bonnet (I already know where the adjustment bits are just not how they should be set) then I may have one last go tonight.... fun fun fun. laugh

If the bonnet just needs adjusting from side to side then you were right by the hinge bolts. Just loosen these bolts slightly so they are still fairly tight but with a bit of a shuv you can move the bonet. If you loosen them too much then between adjusting the bonnet and tightening it will move out of line again. So adjust the bonnet and tighten the bolts again fully.
Hope it helps

Right after the garage could only fit me in next Wednesday I decided to have another go, last night I removed the air box and found the missing bolt, fitted it and had a go at getting the bonnet back, after a few hours it was better but still not right decided that I'd done enough so stopped. Tonight spent another 2 hours on it and its now sitting almost flush and more importantly not rubbing on anything. Will still get it into the garage on Wednesday but means I can hoon around over the weekend.
thanks for help.
Moral is if you don't understand it leave well alone hehe
