Hi all this old chestnut again my tam is overheating as soon as it spends any time in traffic, suspect the fans are not cutting in, its going in to get sorted next week at its service but my query is-is it possible to, as a temporary measure for Diamond Rock set the fans to be on all the time, and if so would that cause any problems I'm only approx 10 miles from Corby. Should have sorted it before now but problem has been masked by the cool/wet weather.

Thanks in advance

There is a way of doing it and if you search the forums there should be a few posts with how to wireup a switch so you can turn them on when you want to and overide the default on @ 90 (something) degrees.

You can hear the fans from the driving seat at idle, even with sports exhaust,so you should know if the fans are working?
You can disconnect the wiring from the temp sensor and this will make the fans ON permanently, the ECU will default the fans, a bit like a saftey overide.

May be due to corroded terminals on the engine temperature sensor - that happened to us. Try cleaning the terminals first?

Sorry to hijack the thread but Tony, can you tell me if you are talking about the wire that goes in to the sensor in the block? or somewhere else? Also am i right in thinking there are 1 or 2 sensors in the block? If there are 2 do they both need to be discinnected?

TIA as having a similar issue which will get sorted on Friday but I need to get the car there and will have to travel from London to Henley.
