T350 v. 4.5L Chim
Discussion
Hi
I'm thinking of changing my 4.5l chim for a 04,05 yr T350.
Can anyone comment on:
Electrics - a real bugbear in the chim but is the T350 any better?
Engine - has been a chim strong point with no problems whatseoever (other than the occasional cut out when hot) but I hear horror stories of rebuilds being needed on T350 and Tuscan models. Is this the case with the later cars or had problems been sorted by 04?
Air con - does it actually work?
Finally, The boot on the chim is a real strong point but can you get a couple of sets of golf clubs in that hatchback?!
Any help much appreciated
Regards
David

I went from a chim to T350 in 04 then a new T350 in sept 05 and it was the best change i ever made.
I kept both cars for 18 months
i) never had any electrical problems
ii) You cant guarantee the engine wont give you problems but later ones were definitely much better, very much depends on how previous owners have run them in , treated them. I know my original T350 is still going strong.
iii) Aircon in both the T350s i had worked great never a problem
iv) i frequently got 2 sets of golf clubs in the T350 hatchback
Seriously if you find a good example you wont regret it, my 4.5 chim felt almost pedestrian in comparison (almost)

Having sold my 5 litre Chimp I am thinking of returning back to TVR (T350). I just can't find any car that ticks so many boxes and provides such a high performance/price ratio.
However, the Speed 6 that scares me
How many T350 owners have had a rebuild? In fact, I'm going to start a new thread!

Love the Chim- a fine TVR moment and I would be very happy to own one,but having spanked the pants off a 4.5 on the link road from Sheperds Bush to the A40 one night without a lot of effort if you want power you can put down and go round corners at the same time then the T350 has a huge amount to offer.
